Christmas Eve/Christmas menu

So what's on your menus?

It's just Mrs. FMB! and I this year - no family, just us at home - so we're taking it pretty easy. We're planning to spend a good portion of Christmas Day at the movies, so we're just going to do a meal on Christmas Eve, then do leftovers on Christmas day.

I picked up a HoneyBaked ham, and I'll do stuffing and potatoes (the wife won't let me off the hook for either of those). She'll do some kind of pie.

And after discovering the Duchesse De Bourgogne this afternoon, I'll be heading to the package store tomorrow to see what other Flanders ales they have in stock. And I've got a nice shiraz on standby.

Totino's pizza and Natty Ice.

We did shrimp and grits tonight with our family then had a fire in the back yard with s'mores. The rest of the holidays will be spent with grandparents, cousins, and extended family, so this was it for our core group. It was a nice, relaxing evening to serve as an appetizer for the madness to come.

Booze: Evan Williams, Hornsby Cider, and Boulevard Wheats.

Probably some kind of ham. Ham is ****ing delicious.

We traditionally do lasagna Xmas eve and Hawaiian steak Xmas day.

I'd rather just do chicken wings and ribs....

Prime ****ing Rib.

Bugeater 12-23-2012 09:43 PM

We're doing a standing rib roast.

My aunt & uncle are cooking up a ham & doing BBQ ribs on the grill. My little one made 2 home made apple pies.
Meet tray & iced down shrimp & cocktail sauce as well. Not as good as Thanksgiving but still an awesome dinner.

As for holiday ham: it ain't complete with out a Petit Jean meats peppered ham.

I actually used Petit Jean smoked bacon for my shrimp and grits tonight, but that was probably overkill.

We have dinner reservations Christmas Eve for a nice local restaurant. It serves steak and seafood, and I have plans for the king crab legs. Mmmmmm, king crab.

Quick trip microwavable sandwiches for xmas eve, and for xmas I think I'm being dragged to the ex inlaws for ham.

Anything for rent in your neighborhood?

NewChief 12-23-2012 09:50 PM

Tomorrow night, btw, will involve king crab legs and filets.

When we go to my mom's it's a peppered ham and garlic cheese grits.

I'm making Danish soup, made of a clear beef based broth, small pork meatballs, egg dumplings, and sliced carrots. Homemade rye bread with butter on the side, followed by Carlsberg. I'll have aebleskiver for dessert, sort of like Danish donuts.

There's an apartment complex right down the street.
