Kiko Alonso

I think he needs to be discussed more because he is a very real possibility for us. I think we were very interested in him at the Oregon Pro day. Coach Gibbs was up there running some workouts with him and he impressed everyone in his LB drills from every team that worked him out.

Here's some video on him.

I think his strengths and weaknesses fit our defense extremely well.

He's good at:

-Blitzing in the A gap.
-Penetrating up the middle to stop RB's (really good at this in goal line situations).
-Very good ball skills. Above average in coverage.
-Speed to go sideline-to-sideline.
-Good football IQ.

He holds blocks well, but sometimes gets engulfed or neutralized at the point of attack, but in our defense he'll be free to roam with our 3 big DL (especially Poe in the middle) demanding attention.

I think this is a LB with the size (6'3" 237 lbs), speed and smarts to help us in one of our biggest problems we've had in years: defending TE's.

The more I learn about him the more I like him. I think he would be a beast in our defense.

I like his quickness and his range.

What round is he projected to go in?

Probably a late 2nd or early 3rd.

would be a good replacement at Belcher's MIKE ILB position.

Here is his vid against Washington but there are other games to view of his already.

I love Kiko's speed first and foremost! Does well in coverage but also a capable blitzer.

Kiko Alonzo is good enough football talent wise to be an early round pick but he still might be there at 3.1 because of his injury history (missed 2010 because of knee injury, wrist injury held him out of Senior Bowl) and criminal charges ( DUI -2010, burglary, criminal mischief, and criminal trespass- 2011)

Since Andy and friends were all there to watch at Oregon Pro Day, I think KC has discounted the past problems and select him in the 3rd.

If KC has any cap money left, maybe sign Karlos Dansby to fill that same need?

He's kinda funny to watch on the field. He plays a lot faster than he is and gets swallowed up a lot by guards. He's pretty thin as well. I don't see him as a good fit for a 34 defense.

I don't understand your thought process here. You want guys who play faster than they are, right? You see him as a better 4-3 LB? I was thinking just the opposite.
