Here's a pretty decent cover of the Yardbird's Dazed And Confused:

Pretty hard to top. Coming from Johnny, and putting his life's story as a backdrop fairly well blots out Reznor's original (which is pretty good).

Im probably one of the few people who prefers NIN's version.

Reznor agrees. Which is cool.

I'm torn on this because I lived through my teens in the 80s. I like the original better but it's VERY close. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/I7imqO-OBVk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I wouldn't say few. I say 'why not both!"

Right on. I am a pretty big George Michael fan. Listen Without Prejudice, Volume 1 was a masterpiece. IMMO

Two songs come to mind immediately.

Crimson and Clover. Original by Tommy James and the Shondells. Cover by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts

Second, Hazy Shade of Winter. I'm a big fan of Simon and Garfunkel, but I like the cover better.

Of course I'm dating myself here -- I like the 80s versions better than the "before I was born" originals. :D

And that version of Hazy Shade Of Winter was an excellent choice for the Less Than Zero soundtrack.

Red Brooklyn 09-17-2015 02:39 PM

Probably my all time favorite cover.
