The Lost Family of Russia

Came across this doing a bit of surfing and really wanted to share, its one of the more fascinating stories i've read in a while, a Russian family moves deep into the Siberian forest to escape religious persecution and eventually end up basically living as cavemen.

Sorry to be the retread who doesnt know how to lay out the print, but if you can be bothered to click the link its an interesting read...

I'm pretty sure i could do this, with three exceptions...

1- something to hunt with would be a MUST, atleast a bow and arrows... trying to rely on trapping or running something to ground like a one man wolfpack? i cant imagine it. The upshot? i bet that son was strong as a friggin mule.

2- enough metal cooking vessels to last the duration, i cant imagine not being able to cook something up in a pot, F that.

3- good footwear, its mind boggling how you would get by strapping bark to your feet and maybe stuffing it with moss or whatever, especially living such a rigorous life.

The ending was bittersweet, one lone woman left to make a go of it alone by her own choice, unable to face a modern world. Glad you guys liked it as much as i did.

I liked it a lot too. Thanks for posting it scott free.

They lived a fascinating impressive life. Thought it was funny the old man didn't believe it that man landed on the moon, lol.

The son must of been strong as hell to carrie a young buck back to camp. Bring him in for a look?

Pretty cool story.

great read. sort of makes you see how small bands of humans that might have had different distinct DNA lines might have gone extinct tens of thousands of years ago.

That is a wild read. I can't imagine winters and living in a hut like that. On the flip side if you had a fly rod I bet the fishing would be great.

Saw that on Reddit yesterday... amazing, amazing story.

Dude REALLY wanted to keep his beard.

Yeah, fishing would seem to be the easiest way to get protein, you know those untouched rivers were chock full of them.

Did they not encounter any of the aforementioned bears or wolves? I would have thought the daughter would be most keen on things that could harm her "out there".
