I picked up an original NES in a pristine box for $40 off Craigslist a couple of weeks ago... had to replace the 72 pin connector, but it was a simple process.

The NES is like brand new and you never have to blow! Woo hoo...

So far I've acquired:

Which were your favorites that I may be missing?

Bionic Commando, Bases Loaded, Double Dragon, Battle Toads, Gun Smoke (one of my all time favorites) Baseball Stars, but i would imagine it was more or less a great game because it stored records and stats. R.C Pro Am, Ghost and Goblins. GI Joe, Mega Man games, Ninja Gaiden, Super Dodge ball (fun ass game) \

them wre like the 2nd generation nintendo's my friend got one after his died back years ago when we were kids. I think they came out a little after the SNES came out.

2 was awesome

Yep, the top loaders. They are more expensive on the secondary market because they don't suffer the same 72 pin connector problems as the first gen NES.

2 was, in fact, a remake of the Japanese game "Doki Doki Panic". They just redid the character maps/sprites to make it look like Mario.

The "original" Mario 2 was too much like the first Super Mario Brothers, and it was quite a bit more difficult, so Nintendo of America thought it would not be popular here.

It was released with the SNES title Super Mario All-Stars as "The Lost Levels"

Good obscure game. I enjoyed the surfing part of it quite a bit. The skateboarding shit got hard.

Baseball Stars. Played it hours on end....

I believe it was the first game or one of the first games that kept running stats and a "franchise" type mode.

Little Nemo was a great, underrated title. You felt juvenile as shit for playing it but it was really fun.

Game had great music and a good difficulty spike for those that stuck with it.

i liked those. Ro3K was made by KOEI and they had another game called Nobunaga's Ambition. that was my favorite game for a long time.

Final Fantasies were fun, Super Tecmo Bowl is way better than the first. RBI 2 is great.

Ro3K was the precursor to Dynasty Warriors - Koei's obsession with that period of Chinese history nearly became it's own genre of video games.

The Romance of the 3 Kingdoms Series is ****ing awesome.

It's already on your list, but Kid Icarus is probably my favorite NES game.

I played most of those games. I liked Ambition the best because it's shorter and I was really into samurai at the time.

i also had Metal Gear but it didn't seem very good. i was young though.

Have you played Just Cause 2? It's pretty much a 3D version of Bionic Commando with completely over-the-top action: grappling on to moving helicopters, hijacking fighter jets, free falling from thousands of feet, connecting enemy vehicles to trees via the grapple cable, etc. Tons of fun!

I got it off of Steam over the weekend for $15 (it came out in 2010).

Thanks, the reviews are mixed but seem okay. There's also a Retro-duo system that is basically the same.

YES!!!

I have a different one called a Retro duo. It works ok. Stock controller is horrible.

They work better for NES games - some SNES games get kinda weird (audio is off or crappy, flickering, etc)

RC Pro AM, Tecmo (BO!!!), Batman, Castlevania, Baseball Stars....wasnt there an Ultima game on NES?

The reviews say its the other way around. They work great for SNES and not great for NES.

I have a MAME machine and both run great. There is all kinds of different emulators for each system. Some work better than others

Lots of good games listed, I'm thinking I may have to go get a SNES.

Some of my favs already listed were: Ice Hockey, Pro Wrestling, Tecmo Superbowl (duh), RC Pro-am, and Bases Loaded.
