Bob Dole doesn't know about everyone else, but almost all Bob Dole's expectations are being exceeded to this point.

Who expected to see rookies having an impact?

Who expected DA to stop dropping the ball?

Who expected Elvis to throw this many precision strikes?

Who expected to see Elvis be allowed to throw this many precision strikes?

Who expected not to cringe every time our special teams stepped on the field? (Okay...we still cringe when Petie Noodleleg trots out...)

Who would have expected KC to outscore to opposition 33-0 in the 4th quarter the last 3 weeks?

Each facet of the game has improved each week, and Bob Dole is just waiting for all 3 to gel for a full 60 minutes. Not a bad start to what many of us considered a "rebuilding year."

Here's to continued improvement!

(The come-from-behind win last night sure makes that drive home today a lot easier. Golly yeah!)

I agree. It has been a very good suprise and overall looking at the schedule prior to the start of the season, it's good to be 3-2 at this point.

Had we not folded up the tents in Adelphia Stadium, we could be 4-1 at this point.

Dante Hall has played his way onto the special teams and the Offense has transformed itself. I cant believe that the philosophy appears to be changing. ie throw to set up the run.

After the way we ended last season & the horrible offseason & preseason, I think this season is a great surprise(so far). I think we could have ran at will last night on the Seahawks & dare I say it, Elvis looks pretty good. Gonzalez's catch last night may be one of the hardest catches that a tight end has ever made.

Happy with 3-2?? Good God! Peterson has trained you guys to be happy with mediocrity!

j molina 10-03-2000 07:28 AM

I for one think this years team is better in the second half.(So Far) It could be me, and the beer, but more than one time Anders made me jump out of my seat..And another comment ...CLOUD!!!!

Senator, who'd a thunk it! It's not that we're just 3-2, its that we have the tiebreaker on Denver, and division rivals have been beaten at Arrowhead. We are not going to win enough to get a WC, we must win the division. Therefore DIVISION games are critical...... come on Oakland..... hoping for a rash of Raider injuries this weekend so we can get another "gift".

KCWolfman 10-03-2000 09:30 AM

Packfan, go root for the Green Bay Slackers ok? The Chiefs have won 3 straight, finally. How many has Green Bay won? Hmmmmm....

Warrior5 10-03-2000 09:33 AM

Packfan, the answer to your question, a helluva lot more than Wolf has done for your fans. We are 3-2, 3-0 in our division, lost to two eventual playoff teams, one we should have one. And what has ragarm Favre, and your team done. Oh thats right they beat the Cardinals, WOW.

47mack 10-03-2000 09:35 AM

I'd rather be 3-2 than 2-3 and have lost 2 in row at home to the Bears.

I'm still pissed we're not 5-0. All those games were VERY winnable. If we had started the year throwing the ball like we are now...

I just hope the bye week doesn't throw us out of synch and slow us down...

Luzap 10-03-2000 10:13 AM

Wolf: true those games were winnable and had we played those games like we had played the last 3 (passed the football), we might be talking about a 5-0 team.

Packfan: spare us the nonsense. This was your preseason 'assessment' of KC:

4. Kansas City - Tounge loss will hurt, only one playmaker, poor coaching, aging team, inconsistent QB - The number 4 indicates the finishing order of the team in the division.

Now by your own words versus the way KC has played, you should be suprised as well. Of course, this would require you to be consistent about your rants--They cant be a pathetic team and win 3 straight via 4th quarter comeback--it defeats your original 'assessment'.

Chiefnj 10-03-2000 10:33 AM

Oxford - Although it is a noble calling to wish for athletes to suffer injuries, you may not get your wish this weekend. Raiders are tuning up for Arrowhead with a short drive across the bridge to SF - just to get a little practice in. Besides, wouldn't you rather beat us when we're at full strength? That would make a victory more meaningful. Don't fear the dogfight - its what the AFC West is all about....

Snapper 10-03-2000 01:10 PM

I would definitely rather see the destruction of a full strength jpkeland faider team....NO excuses to be made other than who plays better that day....and of course I will predict that it be the CHIEFS.

the passing game has been a nice suprise, especially when THE ELVI throws TDs for ONLY the Chiefs...very nice...the recievers are making unbelievable catches.

The Dline is my biggest suprise so far...they are kicking some @$$.

I am also very satisfied with where we are right now. The biggest thing that I see in this team that I like is that we are hanging around in games and then we are coming back to win. Add to that a very solid looking QB in Elvis and we may just continue to surprise a lot of teams.

I think that the Oakland game is a defining game for this team. With a strong win this team will make a statement to all the nayesayers. What will the experts say if the KC team they picked last,(as usual) beats their favorite AFC West team, the Raiders.

With a win a number of positives come out.

1. Early AFC West Division advantage.
2. More confidence (4 straight)
3. One up on Oakland, Denver, and Seattle.
4. Continued positive growth (Elvis, DA, CAT, Tony, D and hopefully some positive RB action)

5. Rookies gaining valuable experience every game (come from behind wins are like extra credit on EXAMs)

6. Winning is a good habit to have in this league (Hopefully we got the tough losses out of the way)

7. Confidence for big Interstate game.

And in the back of my mind is that St. Louis game. I do not believe that a loss here is the end of the world, but I also believe that KC will give these guys a fight. A win will have all the experts in a tizzy and they may have to give this team credit.

And what a statement a win against St.Louis would be. I for one hope that we are healthy and on a winning streak going into that game. Our best against a down to earth St.Louis team (with at least two major turnovers). All you St. Louis fans that are just itching to talk smack remember, we are the underdogs in this one and on ANY GIVEN SUNDAY, a small band of Chiefs, playing with heart can beat the best of teams.

A KC win against Oakland would make the Rams at least have to be sweating it out in KC. If Oakland can hang with these guys, I am sure that we can too!

Arrowhead will be rocking for this game either way! Can't wait. I think turnovers will be more important in this game than a lot of people would believe. Maybe this will truly be the coming out party for the KC offense. Here is hoping!
