Better that some other options I've heard.

Not really. He's at best the 2nd-best pass rusher in the draft, can really only play 3-4 OLB, and has spinal stenosis.

He's one of the worst options at #1 overall actually.

If they don't draft a QB....then it will be because they draft Moore. And that's only going to happen if they go back to the 4-3 and they don't think that Hali and Houston can be bookends.

I didn't know about his spinal issues. That's definitely a factor.

I suppose I was speaking more towards the fact that I'd rather take a pass rusher vs a LT or MLB but obviously health concerns are important.

Hopefully will be a moot point and we'll just take the best QB.

If it were me and we are sticking with a 34, we need pass rushers on the dline. Not at OLB, we have those.

ChiefMojo 01-04-2013 02:27 PM

I would love Jones if we didn't have Hali and Houston. Not a position of need. Frankly with the #1 pick, it has to be QB or at worst LT.

O.city 01-04-2013 02:32 PM

With new Gm's and HC's. We don't currently have a QB worth keeping on the roster and even if we had an average one, it would be an uphill battle for him to stick around. It's just the way things go.

So, currently no QB, new HC, GM etc, and the first overall pick.

It's really not that hard to put two and tow together.

While I hate the thought of taking a LT so high, I'd be a lot more willing to listen to it if there was a great LT in this draft. There isn't.

Joeckel is about the 5th-best tackle in the last 4 or 5 years.

Again, if we want a pass rusher, it should be Moore.

Jones isn't worth the #1 overall pick.

It just depends really. Even if there were a Jake Long, look how that worked out for the Phins.

I realize you can't just throw your rookie QB to the wolves, but you also have to get the rookie QB to start.

It's pretty easy. Re Sign Albert. Done.

Thats not as crazy as it looks at first glance when you consider the stuff the professional experts are saying about Geno Smith. NFL.com is comparing Geno to Jason Campbell. Chiefs might as well just take Jones #1 and then trade for Jason Campbell. Lookit the NFL.com QB Analysis:

1) Geno Smith, West Virginia

Smith faltered down the stretch against the tougher defenses of the Big 12; scouts started to have concerns about his ability to find his secondary options in the route progression when opponents take away his primary receiver with blanket coverage. He struggled to consistently identify the open receiver in games against Oklahoma, Kansas State and Texas Tech, a trend that continued in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl against Syracuse. Although Smith completed 66.7 percent of his passes with two touchdowns and zero interceptions, he was sacked three times and repeatedly looked confused when the Orange took away his No. 1 option. As a result, Syracuse blew out West Virginia, 38-14.

Pro comparison: Jason Campbell

That's laughable. Geno might not work out in the NFL but he's nothing like Jason Campbell.

This guy is pretty good.

Maybe he's not a fit for us because of what we have at OLBer, but still, this guy is a talent. Some team will be happy to have him in the top 5/top 3/maybe even #1 overall (if we can trade the #1 pick for 2 or 3 and still get our QB, who gives a shit. This guy will be coveted, that could help in our favor)

Ease up on the kid... once he gets a little NFL experience under his belt, he could be....

He is a good player, but he's probably not the best pass rusher int he draft plus he has a fairly big medical concern.

The first overall pick should be spent on a pick that addresses why you have the worst record to begin with.

No other position put us where we are now more than QB and better be addressed first and foremost.
