Franchise was in a perfect position to get a guy to sit behind a starter for a minimum of two seasons which will likely be three with no pressure to start before he's really prepared for the speed of the game.

They got out maneuvered by Denver instead.

Seems like they weren't that interested in Lynch according to the MMQB article about us trying to trade out 2 picks before Denver traded up.

IMO they like Alex and want to build this team to win now with every resource, but in the next 2 drafts we'll take someone to sit and develop, provided there is someone attainable.

I trust Dorsey to find a good QB. The other disciples who worked together in GB drafted Russell Wilson and Derek Carr, so it seems like the system these guys learned from Ted Thompson is proven to work.
