Keeper suggestions

I have to pick a keeper from this group.

My 3 options are:

McFadden, Miles Austin, Tony Romo.

It's a PPR and not a lot of QBs are being kept.

I'm leaning Miles, what say you?

Exoter175 08-09-2011 10:25 PM

I don't like anything about Dallas at all. However, in my league good/productive WR's are hard to come by. I'd take Miles Austin over the others all day long and pray for a good draft.

The draft I'm not worried about. First round, I'm pretty locked into getting a top flight QB. We have bonuses for 300 yard passing games, give 6 points per td pass.

Exoter175 08-10-2011 04:35 AM

In that case, keep Miles Austin.

DaKCMan AP 08-10-2011 06:39 AM

Austin.

You can grab another QB and McFadden is already banged up going into the season. Better RBs available.

McFadden has the upside to be the top fantasy scorer. He's got late round 1 ADP, whereas Austin and Romo are 3rd round at the earliest. This is actually pretty ridiculous that you're even considering it.

Are you forgetting the part where he's Injury prone going up against some of the toughest front 7's in the league this year on a team that MIGHT win 5-6 games this season?

If you're taking him anywhere before the 4th round in most leagues, you need to check yourself into the looney bin.

He's rated in the first round/early second round everywhere. He may get injured, but he did lead all RB in Fantasy PPG last year. The upside is enormous.

He's already injured.

The point is, you have to take a lot more into account than just what he did last year. Believe it or not, a lot of the projections this year are based on what they did last year against their schedules with that roster, instead of applying that to their schedule this year with their current roster.

Do you think he'll break 1000 yards this year if they lose all 16 games, splitting carries with Bush and being injured? Is 1,000 yards even a good mark for such a high projection? If you think Darren and Jamaal will put up similar numbers in terms of PPG and YPC as last year, you're completely mental.

Also that PPG statistic is idiotic. He didn't play in every game because of......you guessed it.....injury!

It doesn't matter if he's the highest rated guy according to yahoo analysts or not, if he doesn't play 16 games he becomes a liability. I know this, I had him last year coupled with McCoy. I tore shit up last year without drafting either of those guys.

The Bad Guy 08-13-2011 05:01 PM

McFadden's ine is garbage, his schedule is tougher and teams can just stack the box against the Raiders.

I could care less where his ADP is. He's a liability due to various injuries he's racked up over his career.

Okay, here is my roster from the end of last year. I get to keep 2.

Keep in mind:

I have the first pick of the draft.

Scoring is fairly typical. 6 points for receiving, rushing, and passing TD's. That doubles if a receiver rushes or a rusher receives. 1 point for every 25 yds passing. 1 point for every 10 yards receiving or rushing. Extra points for longer FG's. Etc, etc, etc....

Manning, Peyton QB IND
Bradshaw, Ahmad RB NYG
Jackson, Fred RB BUF
Jones, Felix RB DAL
Johnson, Andre WR HOU
Moore, Lance WR NO
Gonzalez, Tony TE ATL
Succop, Ryan K KC
Ravens DST

Bradford, Sam QB STL
Gradkowski, Bruce QB CIN
Stewart, Jonathan RB CAR
Smith, Steve WR CAR
Thomas, Mike WR JAC
McCluster, Dexter WR KC
Dreessen, Joel TE HOU
Reed, Jeff K SEA
Colts DST

YIKES!

Looks like you should keep Andre and Peyton by default. Bradshaw would be my 3rd choice.

You need some rb's!

I thought that, too, but I had thought about keeping Bradford and Johnson as well. I'll have my pick of whoever isn't kept with the first pick.

And what do you think of Felix? He's starting for Dallas now. Or Fred Jackson did very well for me last year, too. Did Buffalo pick up anyone who could pass, or will they still be rushing a lot?

Keep AJ for sure. Probably should keep Peyton, but if you want Bradford then go that route. No one else is worth it, IMO.

If there isn't a RB better than Felix than you can take him with your 1st pick, but a better option will likely be available.
