Denver - LMAO John Fox is a moron

What a Herm Edwards move.

It's 3rd n 7 and you have a chance to WIN THE ****ING GAME with a 1st down and you run the ball when you have Peyton Manning as your QB?

That so backfired in his god damn face I about rolled off the couch laughing. ROFL He should be fired for that.

RealSNR 01-12-2013 07:06 PM

It's worse that you have Peyton Manning 2 timeouts, 30 second and the ball to kick a field goal and you kneel

MahiMike 01-12-2013 07:07 PM

Yep. But he was conservative the entire game. Very Marty like. without those 2 ST TDs, Ravens win big.

Chiefs=Champions 01-12-2013 07:07 PM

Denver are sooo overrated..

FranciscoD'Anconia 01-12-2013 07:07 PM

AND they take a knee with two timeouts? They absolutely deserve to lose and he should be fired.

KCrockaholic 01-12-2013 07:07 PM

If we want to hate on Fox, it's not for that play. It's for kneeling with 30 seconds and 2 TO's left.

I agree...both incredibly stupid decisions.

But it was 3rd DOWN and 7.....No reason whatsover to run that ball there esp w/ Peyton Manning...you might as well punt and just give the down up.

Ravens D stopped Manning, they punted. Then flacco ran for it for like three yards and the clock kept running then he threw it ****ing far for a td and my cousin spilt beer on my carpet. Cleaning it now.

Amazing touchdown. It felt alot like the helmet grab from the superbowl a few years ago. Iirc, bong water was spilt due to that one.

Herm Fox

-King- 01-12-2013 09:22 PM

Like I said in the game thread, no matter who your QB is, the right call is to run there.

And we all saw what Manning does when the ball is in his hands with the game on the line... so let's not act like a first down would have been assured on that 3rd and 7 play.

Messier 01-12-2013 09:28 PM

I keep thinking about the NFL "expert" Petro had on his show yesterday, almost laughing at the notion that Andy Reid is in the same class as John Fox. Petro kind of agreed. I hope he addresses it on Monday, but I doubt it.

Herm is that you? Worrying about throwing a INT on 3rd n 7 is probably the most conservative you could possibly be given the situation at hand.

So you just essentially give up the down and punt and give the opposing offense another chance to score by running the ball? What is assured is that you give the ball back to the offense with more than enough time left on the clock to score and tie the game. A good game coach does what he can so that he doesn't give the opposing team any chance to score. STUPID STUPID move by Fox.

If you don't make a first down on 3rd n 7...okay/fine...then you can punt and hope the defense stops them from scoring. A first down wins the damn game and they're playing next weekend.

Did you see their kicker attempt that 52 yarder? I didnt mind that move. Nor the 3rd and 7. Why risk an incompletion and give the opponent more time? Thats all on Del Rio. Get your safeties back deep

FloridaMan88 01-12-2013 10:44 PM

If Marty gets fired after a 14-2 season and a loss in the divisional round of the playoffs in San Diego, Denver is justified in firiing Fox after this dumpster fire of a loss.

Denver stopped the clock anyways by calling their 1st time out.

3rd and 7 at DEN 47 R.Hillman right guard to DEN 47 for no gain (M.Kemoeatu).

- Timeout #1 by DEN at 01:15.

4th and 7 at DEN 47 B.Colquitt punts 30 yards to BLT 23, Center-A.Brewer, fair catch by J.Jones.

So it's 7 yds to win the ballgame and move on to the AFC Championship game, or give the opposing offense one more chance to score...which ended up happening. If they pass the ball and don't make it, get an incompletion, they about 5 seconds is taken off the clock at a minimum. The opposing team still has to go almost 80 yds for a TD..a FG wouldn't cut it.

You pass on that 3rd down. No questions asked.

This isn't the reg season...you lose you're season is done...you win you move on to the AFC Championship game. You go for the win.

I don't see how that was calculated at all....it wasn't 4th down it was THIRD DOWN. At least TRY to get 7 yards when you have one of the league's best QB's and you win the game and move on to the AFC Championship game. What makes matters even worse they even called a TO after they ran it instead of letting the clock run. Didn't matter anyway because of how quick BAL was able to score and tie the game....but by no means was that a calculated decision. You go for the 1st down on 3rd down n 7....always....always.....always. Only time I see where it's probably not a good idea is if you're backed up on your own 2-3yd line or something. Even then I'd still think I'd try to get the first down on 3rd n 7, instead of essentially giving the ball back on 3rd down...That was a horribly wasted play to run it there...stupid ass decision.

Remember when the Chiefs could have tied or won the game in the recent weeks, but we ran the ball w/ Hillis on 3rd n 7 and then had to punt becuase he got like a yard or 2? Same deal......that was a dumber than shit decision by RAC and Daboll.

Hog's Gone Fishin 01-13-2013 09:13 AM

Ths Donkeys are a one man team. Without PM they would be drafting #1 this year. This has all been a blessing in disguise for the Chiefs organization as we have retooled our staff and IMO done a wonderful job that can give us all Hope while PM will keep the Donkeys picking at a later spot in the draft for the next few years while ending his career in Denver.
Also we now know that Denver has a coaching staff led by John Fox that is horrible. Look at Foxs track record.

Hootie 01-13-2013 09:57 AM

it was one of the worst coaching decisions I've ever seen

which is why I wanted an offensive minded coach here in KC

Belichick is great because NO ****ING WAY his Tom Brady team runs on 3rd and 7 there...

and the kneel downs were RIDICULOUS

lets kneel while the other team is in prevent...the Ravens scored 2 TDs on Denver's prevent...one at the end of the first and the one where that amazing Denver safety decided to make the worst play on a ball in NFL history

Hootie 01-13-2013 09:58 AM

and King...

you are the only dipshit I've seen that still says 'you always run on 3rd and 7' there...

I've yet to see anyone on this site or anyone IRL that agrees with you...

the odds of PM throwing a pick there are probably about the same as Jerome Bettis fumbling at the 3 when his team is trying to run out the clock only for Ben Roethlisberger to make the game saving tackle when the opposition picks up said fumble

oh wait

Pasta Little Brioni 01-13-2013 09:59 AM

Tried telling ya this wasn't a layup Hootie. Shocked the Ravens allowed TWO special teams TD's and STILL won, wow.

Hootie 01-13-2013 10:02 AM

I was dead wrong about that one.

I was right on about San Fran.

50/50!!!!

Hootie 01-13-2013 10:03 AM

I played Kaepernick and Crabtree in my ESPN Gridiron Challenge money league so I got over losing all my Denver players in my NFL challenge very quickly.

Hootie 01-13-2013 10:04 AM

and everyone rags on me for being so opinionated and totally blowing my Denver prediction but no one gives me any credit for calling Kaepernick "vastly underrated" and saying San Fran was a terrible matchup for Green Bay because Rodgers doesn't get rid of the ball...

YOU GUYS ONLY REMEMBER THE NEGATIVE STUFF

Pasta Little Brioni 01-13-2013 10:05 AM

Hootie, props for being spot on about the Niners. You were just so focused on your Manning nutnibbling folks probably just forgot about it.

mcaj22 01-13-2013 10:07 AM

a monkey could have predicted that 49ers win. come on

it was a lot harder to come out and predict the Ravens would go into Denver against a PM led team on a 11 game win streak and come out on top.

when your team has a guy who is your best player at QB, and a first ballot HOF...

you let him win the game right then and there

and if he does **** up

AT THE VERY LEAST WE FOCUS ON HIS CHOKE AND NOT JOHN FOX'S CHOKE

there were just so many inexcusable coaching decisions...the kneel downs were ridiculous

Pasta Little Brioni 01-13-2013 10:22 AM

After Flacco scrambled and the clock was running down, the ONLY way Denver was going to lose was on a play like that where the reciever got behind their umbrella. Rahim should have been at least 5-10 yards deeper at the start of the play, Jones can fly.

Hootie 01-13-2013 10:23 AM

pretty sure if you call a pass on 3rd and 7 in that situation PM knows not to force it and at the very worst he

1) takes a sack
2) throws an incompletion

not a big difference between 1:50 and 1:15 in today's NFL...which Flacco proved.

Balt was out of timeouts, so they took the clock from 2 minutes to 1:20 and usually will win you the game when they have to go 80 plus yards without a timeout. They just didn't play the coverage to dictate the situation.
