There's a lot of baseball left, but what an unbelievable win by the Royals today. Oh, and Shields, your changeup makes me go nuts.

If they're going to leave Smyly in the pen, it's kind of stupid to NOT put him in the 9th.

He's pretty goddamn good.

milkman 06-12-2013 04:35 PM

So, I heard on the radio that the Royals were down 2-0 in the 8th.

What happened next?

CaliforniaChief 06-12-2013 04:36 PM

Runner on 1st, 2 outs, Lorenzo Cain hits an 0-2 fastball over the left field fence to tie it.

Holland owned the heart of the Tigers order in the 10th, and Hosmer knocked in Tejada with 2 outs in the tenth.

Cain missed a two run jack by inches earlier in the game when his line shot hooked just foul.

Dartgod 06-12-2013 04:50 PM

I was there. That catch Lough made was a thing of beauty. The tigers score 2 or more runs that inning without it.

mnchiefsguy 06-12-2013 04:58 PM

Couple of bad ump calls away from a sweep of the Tigers. 7-2 homestand. Good to see the Royals getting back into the race.

ChiliConCarnage 06-12-2013 05:21 PM

incredible finish! This is something like game 10 or 11 in row holding the opposition to 3 or less runs?

Amazing streak by the pitching group

That's actually a ****ing amazing stat. I was shocked when I read it. I mean, this isn't the height of the steroid era but it ain't 1968 either. That's hard to do in today's game.

gblowfish 06-12-2013 08:40 PM

I'm repped out....I'll have to get some vitamin E and try again tomorrow...

BTW: It was nice for the Royals to win today because it was kids day. Lots of youngsters watching the Royals and deciding if they're going to be fans or not. Important to win over the youth, they're the paying customers of tomorrow.

warpaint* 06-12-2013 09:13 PM

Nice win!

Mr. Kotter 06-12-2013 09:46 PM

My nine year old started his first year of kid pitch this summer. He watched shields pitch and most of the games in April with me and he got sucked in. I feel bad giving him a lifetime of royals misery to come. I'm glad and depressed for him at the same time.

Bring Billy's BBQ sauce to Tampa and keep this rolling, don't let off accelerator!

There is a bronze statue of George behind the fountains in right field. While at the game, it occurred to me that fans should start a new tradition of rubbing his hemorrhoids for good luck (similar to the way you are supposed to rub the boar's nose on the Plaza).

Not only would this bring us back to the glory days of Royals baseball, but it would turn the statue's ass back to a bright bronze color...which would also be pretty funny.
