Continuing with STIII, why the hell did they need Chekov's authorization for the self-distruct? Am I the only one that was bothered by that?

If I remember right, it required three officers to initiate though. don't know why the captain wouldn't be enough though.

Is it just me or did I read too much into it - but the doctors mentioned at least twice that the x-rays of what's his faces' brain was just "a perfect picture" and "look at that" (or words to that effect). And the camera zoomed in - I think that x-ray is going to be an important clue down the line somewhere.
