Teicher: KC Super Bowl to come up for vote
KC Super Bowl to come up for vote
By ADAM TEICHER The Kansas City Star Posted on Thu, Mar. 17, 2005 The notion of a Super Bowl for Kansas City refuses to die because of the efforts of Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt. The Chiefs, at Hunt's direction, submitted a resolution for a vote at next week's NFL meetings in Hawaii to award a Super Bowl to Kansas City between 2012 and 2022 contingent on the construction of a retractable-roof stadium. The stadium could be a renovated Arrowhead Stadium or a new facility. Approval by the league's owners would be just the first step toward attracting the Super Bowl. In addition to the renovated or new stadium, Kansas City would have to meet all of the other necessary criteria to play host to a Super Bowl, including providing the requisite amount of hotel rooms. Hunt was unavailable for comment but said recently he believed the awarding of this year's Super Bowl to another smaller market in Jacksonville improved Kansas City's chance for eventually getting a game. Commissioner Paul Tagliabue indicated last year that Kansas City would be considered as a future Super Bowl site contingent on the necessary renovations at Arrowhead |
Well, we know what Lamar wants now.... :)

It's time! Bring Lamar his retractable roof!

Well if by that time something hasn't been done for Arrowhead or, more realistically, for a new stadium, something is wrong.
Sadly, Lamar may not be with us anymore by then... |
