Cazadores is my preference. Jose Cuervo Tradicional is a less expensive option that is respectable.

Jose is 51% blue agave I believe.

When buying tequilla look for the national Mexican government seal that says it is 100% agave grown from a government recognized source. If the label does not indicate that 100% agave was used, then there is a good chance its mixed

I don't know exactly what price range you're looking for, but 1800 is 100% agave.

Taking shots or mixing? What did you pay for the bottle?

Pasta Little Brioni 02-02-2013 01:40 PM

Carson's 100

R8RFAN 02-02-2013 01:42 PM

Now... How do you drink tequila...

I am not a mixed drink fan, I usually drink 1 jigger of Tequila and maybe a half a jigger of orange juice...

I just love the taste of orange juice with tequila as a small chaser....

Sometimes I take straight shots too though

Not bad. Thanks. I am tempted to try 1800, but am curious how it stacks up with other tequilas

R8RFAN 02-02-2013 01:47 PM

Oh and if you guys have a woman that does not like the taste of liquor, turn them on to those flavored vodkas.... Like Whipped cream ... it's super sweet and the ladies love it....

Our liquor stores are owned by the state of North Carolina here, no mom and pops so you may be able to get it cheaper where you are... The 1800 bottle sure looks cool

Soaking gummy bears in bubble gum vodka is a pretty good technique as well.

In regards to alcohol, Maryland isn't quite as uppity as NC and VA, but its not far behind.

Cool, never heard of that....

I have never been able to get the wife to take shots but she will take shots of this Smirnoff flavored Vodka without hesitation.

It's like 70 proof (35% Alc)

Look up Sangrita (not Sangria). It's a citrus based companion traditionally served when drinking tequila neat. That's how I prefer to drink tequila.

Neither would I. At around $100 a 750ML, it's not something you break out at a party and pass around. But, damn, it's the smoothest tequila I've ever had.

That's the only bottle of alcohol I have ever wanted to try sooo bad. Patron silver is about the only thing I drink, the Gran has got to be the most delicious tequila ever.

Not a huge 1800 fan. It's meh. Not bad, but not really good either.

I prefer Cazadores to Jimador. It's a little smoother. I've polished off a lot of fifths of tequila with a buddy and Cazadores is my go to tequila.

Me? Nothing. The wedding party had more money than god...don't know what the market rate is.

I was at the right place and the right time. Haha.

mdchiefsfan 02-02-2013 09:09 PM

1800 isn't bad. Its nothing to really write home about. I don't really drink tequila a lot though so I may need something to compare it to, to really determine the quality. I have no problems going to take another shot, so that's a plus. Speaking of which.... brb

That guy has a serious problem, holy moly... he's probably already living in his front yard like will ferrell in "Everything Must Go"

I love a few shots of some real tequila, but i've known for a while that any more than 3-4 will turn me into an angry, raging latino, pretty sure i process it about as well as 1800's native americans processed rotgut whiskey.

3-4 times a year is about all i can handle it, vodka and rum suit me much better most of the time.

jspchief 02-02-2013 09:54 PM

Tequila you usually get what you you pay for. Is a $500 bottle "worth it"? Probably not for us poor folk, but considering the jump in quality from a $30 bottle to a $60, I'm sure that high dollar stuff is amazing.

Personally I like the Don Julio resposado and anejo.

Whatever brand you pick, spend the money and choose the anejo version. Almost all anejo versions of any brand are a lot smoother.

And if it were me and you could find it, El Tesoro anejo.
