Yeah, Rhinestone Cowboy was a GREAT song. The movie was cool, as well.

It's no "Gentle On My Mind" or "Wichita Lineman."

I don't want to quibble because Glen was and is an amazing artist but Rhinestone Cowboy was his biggest hit, with more than 2 million singles sold.

IMO, it is certainly his most memorable, although I suppose that can be debated.

OK well enough. It's pretty pukey. He did write it while he was dying though fwiw.

I thought he wrote it while John Goodman was dying.

Yes it was his biggest hit. I just think there are a bunch better. I like it though. Listen to it now and note the production... it's so clear and his vocals soar like few other songs of the time. My opinion at least. It still sounds "fresh" especially considering the era.

Yeah, it's hard to beat for all of those reason you've listed.

Southern Nights was also a great #1 hit.

I love 70's music. So much fun, yet so much heart.

I have Galveston and Wichita Lineman on my iPod. Don't have Rhinestone Cowboy. Think I heard that enough when I had the 45.

KcMizzou 11-13-2012 10:48 PM

I don't have the CD (err - cassette) anymore, but I have a digital copy of the 1989 Batman movie soundtrack. All Prince. I still enjoy it from time to time.

Southern Nights was great. Galveston too. By The Time I Get To Phoenix.... listen to that one... awesome. Dreams Of An Everyday Housewife too.

Sure! I love that he's playing a Dobro as if it were an acoustic guitar.

LMAO
