i dont disagree with you about the pick, I like his measurables

what I dont like is being a full blown homer and comparing a 7th rounder that has and probably will do nothing, to a ****ing All Pro top 3 player in the NFL at his position.

It's just absurd. This happens every year. We should have had like 2 Wes Welkers by now in McCluster and Wylie and Eric Berry was suppose to be Ed Reed/Troy Polamalu and Dontari Poe was suppose to be Haloti Ngata and Tyson Jackson was Richard Seymour and Jon Baldwin was Vincent Jackson and Stanford Routt was Brandon Carr and Peyton Hillis was suppose to run for 1000 yards

its just completely unrealistic.

Yeah, I agree and stated that earlier. Big difference between that and acting like it was a dumb pick.

Comparing him to Jared Allen doesn't mean I believe that's what he'll become.

You're confusing comparing with projecting.

mcaj22 05-09-2013 11:29 AM

i didnt whine, I compared him to starting out as a poor mans Wallace Gilberry, that is completely realistic to expect out of this guy

make the team as a rotational player in the nickel, try him at standing or with his hands in the dirt slid in and best case scenario he gets 2 or 3 sacks and in one year equals Tyson Jackson in four years in sack totals (sad).

Direckshun 05-09-2013 11:30 AM

I think Paul Kruger is a reasonable roof to expect out of him.

I know... they're both white guys. It's still a reasonable projection.

mcaj22 05-09-2013 11:34 AM

Kruger is interesting because they had to groom him for like 3 years and fill out his frame and he was kind of raw, then when he finally broke out they had to let him walk anyway lol

For ****'s sake. Comparing a player to an all-pro doesn't mean you're saying that player IS that all-pro.

Keep in mind, you are talking to the same dude that said if Pryor plays this year he'll be Russ Wilson

Dismissing him because of his league would fit in with conventional wisdom, but we know that the best college passrushers are almost always (a.) prolific in their last year, (b.) have a good weight/speed/strength combo, and (c.) have a good wingspan, preferably 33" or longer.

Catapano was prolific last year with 12 sacks. 6'4", 271 lbs with 4.75 speed -- very nice. 33 reps, ridiculous. 33 3/4" arm length, more than adequate.

Plays a lot like Jared Allen. Not a lot of technique (was Allen ever a technique guy), total relentless mean streak. Combine that with his measurables, and we could be doing alright here.

You just compare him to Allen because he's white.

I think you maybe a racist! LMAO

Eyemsougly 05-09-2013 03:04 PM

In a draft pick I look mainly for production and workouts. If a guy has good production and he works out well, he might not be a decent player but if he has mediocre production and/or workouts he is virtually guaranteed to not amount to anything above replacement level.

Catapano is about as good a prospect you will find in the 7th round. The most important measurable for a pass rusher is vertical leap and his was 37.5 at his pro day at a weight of 271. He and Kush were great value picks. Other than the RB we got a great haul but obviously you don't really know for a couple of years.

Every tall white guy who's mildly athletic is reminiscent of Jared Allen.

Remember Brian Johnston?

Haha

I bet this clown created a thead stating "Chris Manno reminds me of Wes Welker"

This is like bizarro world. The homers trash people who hate Alex Smith, and then turn around and trash those same people when they try to make positive takes about other players. I guess it's about the messenger and not the message. Shame, that.
