Predict the First [or next] Chief to be released.
Watching twitter, more and more players are being released each day...
I haven't seen a Chief released yet. Anyway, what the hell...guess who the first [or next] Chief to be released is. You win...nothing. 5 4 3 7 3 2 1 GO! |

I'll go with Abram Elam. Wait...N/M, Russ Hochstein. |
I guess I should play...
Brady Quinn. |
Hopefully its Matt Cassel.
|
Actually, now that I think about it, I don't think either of my options are even on a long-term deal of any sort so the Chiefs won't have to cut them.
Dammit. I suck at this. |

Brandon Albert... Just to **** with all of you guys.

i would laugh so hard if Jake O O'Connell survives another year and makes the final 53
hes like the ultimate troll |
Eric Winston as a big thank you to the Chief fans.
|
Ricky Stanzi
|
I kinda think the QB's will be the last to go to aid in their leverage for a replacement.

We are going to trade all of our trash players for another team's hot QB or a rediculously high draft pick.
|
Matt Cassel's contract is one they're going to want off the books as soon as possible if they want to save any kind of money on him.
If he isn't released in this first wave, I think he's going to stick around another year. |
Russ Hochstein

Belcher

JAVIER ARENAS. PLEASE GOD JAVIER ARENAS.

Jerrell Powe...

O'Connel: "What's this about?" Dorsey: "These things are never easy, but...we're letting you go." O'Connel: "But I'm a fr-" Dorsey: "Shhhh. (puts finger over Jake's mouth) It's easier if you just accept it." O'Connel: "Uh." Dorsey (whispers): "Godspeed, Jake. Godspeed." |
Hillis would be a good option if he werent a free agent.

Dorsey

and then, "Oh." |
It's weird. A bunch of the guys who make sense like Siler, Pitouitua, Elam, and Hillis are all free agents. One or two of those guys we might even want to keep around.
The only reasonable candidates I can think to cut now (only reason you cut them now is for cap-related reasons) are Cassel (duh), Breaston, Hochstein, Jackson, and... yeah. That's it. Four guys. If Dorsey is feeling crazy or just isn't warming up to a few of the guys, I could even see Winston, Poe, getting the ax, but that's EXTREMELY unlikely. There would have to be a real conflict of interest to see something like that. And no, Copper is NOT getting cut, assholes. |
Matt Cassel has got the be the first guy to cut on any reasonable coach's or GM's list.

Dorsey: "Jake, come on in, son. Have a seat." O'Connel: "What's this about?" I thought, "Why is our free agent DT calling in O'Connell..... Oh." |
Is Moeaki under contract? If so, I choose him.

Is Breaston still under contract ?

Im guessing Tyson Jackson. And for some reason I have a really bad feeling that where ever he ends up he's going to turn out to be a stud.

Also, get real, guys. Gray, Powe, and Stanzi aren't going to get released before the first mini-camp. They're still on their rookie contracts. It makes precisely ZERO sense to cut them this early.
Wait to see how they adapt to the new coaches/system and if they can stick around on a 53 man roster. Cut them then if you have to. But unless you just flat-out KNOW a guy isn't going to stick, cutting players on their rookie contracts this early in the offseason makes zero sense. |

Any move like that, in my VERY simple mind of football, would telegraph a possible motive in the draft. The Chiefs hold the cards in this one, keep everyone under contract ON the team, and sign no one until the draft is done. Again, in my Very simple mind, it allows for more bargaining power on draft day if other teams have NO idea what direction we are going if, this staff is willing to listen to trade offers.... I want nothing more than to see Casshole, Jackson and others gone while retaining Bowe and Albert. I just think if the Chiefs made all those moves BEFORE the draft, they have less bargaining power...again, JMHO. |

all that shit goes down sometime in March way before the draft. so no, they cannot just sit on it, they will reveal their direction like every other team does prior to the draft based on FA moves |

it did last year anyway I want to say something like March 17 is FA but dont hold me to it |

I won't guess the first, but I'll take stabs at guys who have appeared on the 53 man roster.
Guys who will get released, or we will let walk in Free Agency- 1. Matt Cassel 2. Brady Quinn 3. Steve Breaston 4. Peyton Hillis 5. Kevin Boss 6. Abram Elam-Possibly 7. Nate Eachus |
Tony Moeaki

For comparison's sake, ProFootballFocus has him as somewhere between the 14th and 17th best LT. (14th if you ignore his injury and give him credit for a full season, 17th as is). |
If I was Reid my first order of business would be to tell Cassel to pack up his shit and GTFO.
I would have done this weeks ago. |
