Well, it’s about time.

Mark Sanchez, he of the infamous buttfumble, finally decided to address his almost equally infamous “Butt dance.” If you remember, the Jets quarterback was filmed dancing with a couple young lasses during a vacation in Napa, Calif. Let us refresh your memory:

Yeah, that’s right. For whatever reason (actually, it’s not a mystery), he decided to ditch his pantalones while shucking and jiving. I guess it happens. But we never got a comment from the dancing diva himself.

Sanchez finally owned up to it while talking to the New York Daily News (via our friends at Larry Brown Sports).

“Obviously the video’s a little embarrassing,” Sanchez said. “It’s just a good reminder that you’re in the spotlight … and be ever watchful and careful of who you’re with, what you’re doing. Whether it’s harmless, whether you’re in the privacy or your own setting and you feel like everything’s fine and you’re safe, you just got to be careful. That’s just a good example of that.”

Let me make it simple for you: When the cameras are you, keep that pants on. Simple. Let’s move on.

Sanchez looked to have the Troy Aikman gene in that he put up modest regular season stats early in his career and then elevated his play during the playoffs. For whatever reason, he regressed, and he seems more concerned with being a celebrity quarterback than being a good quarterback. Whether you want to chalk that up to him being untalented or improperly developed and immature is your own prerogative, and both have arguable support, but the fact of the matter now is that he's an embarrassment, and should focus on keeping his job before he ends up on VH1 with Dr. Drew.

He needed a coach to call him out when he was being an idiot. Instead, he got a guy who sheepishly gave in to him and got a tattoo of him.

I agree. I don't know if he would have ever amounted to a franchise QB or not, but Ryan was a weird combination of the two worst things for a player like Sanchez: he was a candyass who made every excuse for him, and his game philosophy set him up to fail.

For all his bluster, Ryan is an idiot. If you have a rookie QB the worst thing you can do is run on first and second down. You want young QBs passing when the defense doesn't have its ears pinned back, and in the NFL, that means first down.

I don't think Sanchez ever had any of the makings of being a great QB. He wasn't great at USC and his regular season play was abysmal. I don't think his post season play was very good either, as the reason he was generally having to perform "come from behind" type plays was because they were behind because of him.

Either way, he'll never be great, but he's got his millions so he'll never want to be.

I liked him because he ran a pro style offense, throws a nice ball, has good enough arm strength, and most importantly is elusive "enough" but more importantly throws a great ball on the move.

I think he's failed because he hasn't put in the work, and has been coddled. I don't think he'll be a superstar, but I really think a disciplinarian coach can turn him into a halfway decent QB. I don't want that in KC, because we don't need another retread. But somewhere else? Yeah, why not. Just get him away from Rex Ryan.

He was absolutely tremendous against a really good Penn St. team in the Rose Bowl. It was hard not to see the potential in that performance.

SD actually lost a bet to Doomy after Cassell out performed Sanchez. He was supposed to have a self imposed ban, but Doomy let him out of it.

In a small market(read:KC)with a coach not a butt-nuggett like Rex, who the **** knows what that boy could have done? But okay, WE GOT CASSEL!

Ryan Leaf had a great rose bowl performance too. Sanchez was not great in college.

And Sweet Daddy opens wide for the Sanchez facial blast of the week and can't move out of 2009.

Sanchez put the same numbers up in college that Andrew Luck did.

Sanchez thought he'd "made it" before he actually proved himself. Being an NFL QB is one thing... being a successful one, is another.

Sanchez has a shitty coach, no one denies that, but I don't think he has the talent, nor the quick decision making necessary to be a decent starting NFL QB.

What? His decision making is awesome. Eating a hot dog on the sidelines during the game was savvy. Hooking up with a high schooler was brilliant. Getting filmed dancing with his pants around his knees was genius. And running right into his offensive lineman's ass? Einstein!

And don't besmirch his talent! He's been at the bottom three in nearly every single measurable performance parameter for NFL QB's for the past three years. That's awesome stuff right there.

He's Matt Cassel on the field and Brittany Spears off it. Fabulous combination!

In many ways he just needs to be on some other team. Start over. All the partying and shit has went on in pro sports forever. That I could care less about. He honestly could most likely help some teams.

If you honestly watch that play, Sanchez needed just a second to decide what to do. I'm sure they didn't want him running up the middle anyway. He at least tried to get a couple yards. It wasn't really him that got pwned. He does suck in many ways but for your line to get plowed that badly kinda blows too. Shit happens.
