Making of Madden 07 on NFL Network

Looks like EA might be listening to the gripes of fans this year. Madden 07, at least for the 360 looks pretty damn sweet.

The players actually come out to actual introductions over the PA system, along with the actual music that each team specificly plays while it is going on.

3D grass makes for a pretty cool effect on the field over the course of a bad weather game, with the field gradually deteriorating over the course of the game. One part showed the middle of the field to be one big mud puddle, it was raining so hard and so much damage had been done.

Dont know if every QB does it, but some Quarterbacks have their actual voices. Matt Hasselbeck was featured on the show, and when he audibled you could hear his actual voiceover, not just a random soundbyte.

Create a player now makes you take the created player through all sorts of drills to determine how he will be rated. 40 yard dash, and weightlifting were a couple that were shown briefly, along with chase and tackle and ground attack drills.

New style of ratings for ballcarriers. Power determines the animations for overpowering tacklebreaking, and elusiveness determines the animations for elusive tacklebreaking. Where Jerome Bettis would plow over the tackler with a display of force, Reggie Bush would break a tackle with a more elusive type of animation, whether it be a juke, spin, or hurdle, or almost going to the ground but keeping his balance to keep running.

The show wasnt very long, but from what I saw it looks like EA has tried to expand on what Madden is, and not just throw out the same old stuff that was in 06.

Happy birthday, sir... That being said, I'm psyched. I rented NCAA cause I've been bitten with the fever, and the create a College Star mode on there does the attribute thing (I can run a 4.35-40). Madden is always the more refined game (though NCAA holds its own quite well.)

Are all these things for those 360 ers, like the supergrass?

I think they were afraid to. Now that they have the exclusive license, they can take some risks. Before if they screwed something up, Sega was at their door with a $20 alternative. Now, they have full monopoly. Though I don't know if EA intentionally didn't take risks due to competition, I do think they MIGHT have done so.

I dont know if the field deteriorates on PS2/X-XBOX as well or not. Pretty much all the shots of the game on the show were for the 360 version.

All of the new features should be on the PS2 and X-BOX though in some form. The base game should be the same, with the next gen systems just looking a lot more polished. Ive always wanted the field to get torn up, and for the player jerseys to get all messed up over the course of the game. It just wasnt completely immersive with the visuals when youre playing in the pouring rain, yet all of the Chiefs jerseys are still bright white at the end of the game.

Im just glad that now for the 360 Madden finally has a custom button setup, and I have my control setup like what it was on ESPN 2K5. I hope that feature carries over to the new game, or I will definately have some issues to work through.

It wasn't a flaw, they just have a really really good laundry staff on the Madden games... :)
