Mock (11/26)
Assumptions:
1. The Chiefs finish 2015 at 10-6 and secure the #5 seed due to the tie-breaker they have over the Steelers. The Chiefs visit Indianapolis and escape with a 20-17 victory. The Chiefs go to Cincinnati and shutdown Andy Dalton, winning 29-18. The Chiefs surprise the world by going to the AFCCG, visiting Tom Brady and New England, who are able to slow down Alex Smith just enough to make a return trip to the Super Bowl, 24-9. The front office and coaching staff is fully retained, and Alex Smith has another year before replacement options are considered. 2. The Chiefs re-sign OT/G Jeff Allen 3 years, $10m ($3m guaranteed), DL Jaye Howard 4 years, $33m ($18m guaranteed), ILB Derrick Johnson 3 years, $10m ($1m guaranteed), CB Sean Smith 3 years, $40m ($12m guaranteed), S Eric Berry 4 years, $42m ($10m guaranteed). 3. The Chiefs let walk QB Chase Daniel, WR Jason Avant, OT Donald Stephenson, OT Jah Reid, DE Mike DeVito, OLB Frank Zombo, CB Jamell Fleming, CB Marcus Cooper, S Husain Abdullah, S Tyvon Branch 5. The Chiefs tender: RB Charcandrick West (5th rounder), DE Nick Williams (5th rounder), OLB Dezmon Moses (7th), S Daniel Sorenson (no pick) 6. The Chiefs sign TE Demetrius Harris to a minimal deal. 7. The Chiefs pick about #28 in each round (plus an additional 5th for Kelcie McCray). No compensatory choices. 8. The Chiefs sign S Chris Banjo (Packers) to a 1 year, $2m deal. 9. The Draft: 1. WR Michael Thomas, Ohio State 2. QB Christian Hackenberg, Penn State 3. DE A.J. Jefferson, Mississippi State 4. OG Rees Odhiambo, Boise State 5. OT Le'Raven Clark, Texas Tech 5. CB Harlan Miller, Southeastern Louisiana 6. S Jamaal Golden, Georgia Tech 7. Unless the Chiefs trade up I don't see us getting Thomas at the end of the first.

I'm not sure that a WR in your free agency scenario makes the most sense here.
You are letting Grubbs, Fanaika, Stephenson and Reid walk and are only replacing that with two mid-round rookie prospects. That's dicey. In this scenario, I'd have to hope that Conley puts in a great off-season and makes a strong push forward in the system and draft a WR where you are drafting the offensive linemen and draft a first round fatty instead, especially since you want Allen at the guard position versus the RT position. (At least I do.) |
give me an OL in the first round and take someone like Josh Doctson in the third.
|
I would dig this scenario
|
We will "can" Demetrius and draft the best TE available.
