RealSNR 03-25-2014 10:31 AM

Awesome.

One question- instead of passing over the team who misses the pick, can we just appoint somebody like Direckshun to make that team's pick for them?

It's just... I know it's going to happen. It does every year. Somebody gets lost in the desert or kidnapped by pirates and then they come back 2 days later. If we had kept going in the past, we'd be sometimes 5-10 picks ahead of where the pick was missed. And that's kind of a little extreme. At least in my opinion.

Just a thought. I don't care one way or the other.

RealSNR 03-25-2014 10:32 AM

Also, if you make a pick of somebody who's already been taking, we get to say mean things about your mother.

Put that in the rules, Pest

This prevents Blackbob from sending me creepy PMs from a mult.

Direckshun 03-27-2014 01:47 PM

I bet I surprise you folks with my #1.

You can be my cancer kid that gets to play coach for a day.

I won't let you make any picks, but you can talk as if you're the GM of the Vikings or the Packers in this thread for a certain timespan.

You can't see it, but I am totally waving one of my appendages in a manner reminiscent of a certain type of modern flying vehicle in your general direction.

Calling it. Direckshun goes Manziel.

RealSNR 04-01-2014 06:48 AM

Or Jake Olson.

KC becomes the first in a long tradition of teams to take Central Michigan OTs

The Franchise 04-01-2014 07:58 AM

Direckshun PMd me his pick to get this thing going.

With the 1st overall pick of the 2014 CP Mock Draft, the Houston Texans select QB Blake Bortles, of Central Florida.

Once I was bestowed the Texans for the CP Mock, never once did I think this pick should be Clowney. The Texans are in need for a QB for the future -- and as the adage goes, you don't pass on a franchise QB unless you already have one.*

And that's the decision that's flown all over the place for me. I really like all three QBs. Bortles is a Flacco type with less arm: great decision making, and a great mental makeup that will play directly into him comfortably assuming leadership in the locker room. Bridgewater is close to a finished product with good accuracy, mobility, and a handful of plays that make you really turn your head. And Manziel is a firecracker competitor who expects to win and so long as he keeps his head on, stays healthy, and develops his game, he should own the huddle within a year.

For the 1st overall pick, however, only one can be selected. Manziel, a great boom/bust prospect, has too many "ifs" for me to be comfortable. And Bridgewater and Bortles are about a scratch in my opinion. At that point, it does come down to who has the mental makeup and who has the X factor to become a world beater, and believe he is a world beater.

Bridgewater is an extremely good candidate, but Bortles' great physique, excellent decision-making, leadership, accuracy, and potential are too much to turn down.

I'm this close to insinuating that Rams Fan eats his own boogers.

The insults will increase in intensity until he wises up and makes his pick.

Direckshun 04-01-2014 10:59 AM

Gotta go Sammy Watkins.

Direckshun 04-01-2014 11:05 AM

It was a tough call in Bortles.

My track record is already pretty ugly with Clausen, Sanchez, and Geno all looking so monumentally bad.

Such a tough call.

Really hard to not like Blake Bortles

Sfeihc 04-01-2014 11:35 AM

I haven't spent much time on the top qb's in this draft but who would you compare Bortles to? Blaine Gabbert?

He compared him to Flacco in his write up.

Do you think Rams fan thinks that starting the CP Mock on 4/1 is an April Fool's joke?

Hmm interesting pick I just don't get Bortles he didn't have a winning record as a starter and central Florida never won anything. But talent wise great pick.

They went to a BCS game and beat Baylor in the Fiesta Bowl.

chiefscafan 04-01-2014 03:53 PM

So no rams fan yet should be an interesting pick a lot of holes

RealSNR 04-01-2014 04:02 PM

With the 2nd pick in the draft, the St. Louis Rams draft some dude named "Long"

Direckshun 04-01-2014 04:17 PM

Jesus, Rams Fan.

How is it that SNR is posting in this thread and yet he's only the 2nd biggest asshole here?

RealSNR 04-01-2014 04:38 PM

Only 2nd?

Alright, Mel. Let's see your big board of assholes, then.

BossChief 04-01-2014 04:45 PM

I'd be going Manziel here.

I've been saying the Rams should get a new QB for years now. Rams Fan has admonished me each time for saying so. His loyalty to Sam is truly unbound.

Rams Fan 04-01-2014 05:07 PM

Here, here. Give me a moment.

Rams Fan 04-01-2014 05:08 PM

With the 2nd overall pick, the St. Louis Rams select:

Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina

That's because he was actually having a good season until he tore his ACL. He had 1 horrible game this season.

The Franchise 04-01-2014 05:20 PM

This pick came down to 3 players....and one of those players just got selected at #2. Khalil Mack would do wonders for a defense that has been strengthened so far in FA (Bryant, Clemons). Unfortunately, I'm a firm believe in the mantra of "if you don't have a QB...then you'd better be drafting one".

The Jacksonville Jaguars select Teddy Bridgewater, QB, University of Louisville.

Bridgewater comes into a team who desperately needs a QB for the future. He'll battle it out in TC against Henne for the starting job. If he's not ready....I have no problem sitting him for a year to let him get up to the speed of the NFL.

RealSNR 04-01-2014 05:35 PM

Sigh. I ****ing hate Derek Carr.

I hope somebody drafts him before I'm forced to

I thought about taking Mack and then hoping for a QB in the 2nd.....but **** that shit.

BossChief 04-01-2014 05:46 PM

I don't think Mack is all that great, tbh.

Well, since we're waiting for the AwesomeFinalFourBoi let's talk AL Central baseball. How you liking Abreu so far, Jones?

O.city 04-01-2014 09:13 PM

I don't think any of these QB's end up worth a damn, but Bortles would be the only one I'd take a shot on.

I ****ing love him so far. Ball just jumps off his bat. He's a rookie but looks like a vet. And I'm loving Eaton. Solid leadoff energy guy. And my boy Garcia had 2 hits yesterday.

Just watch Abreu's first AB. Ball jumps off his bat to opposite side of the field. He hit the ball hard all four times. My most impressive hit of his is his RBI single. He golfed it. It was down and in and he hit it hard

I think when it's all said and done the White Sox got the best of that 3-way.

Well even so if the Red Sox knew about Iglesias's shins. I keep watching Garcia and gota remind myself he's only 22!

I really hated to part with Garcia. He should be a fixture in the White Sox lineup for many years.

Toledo? Really, you don't say. I grew up outside Toledo, home of the Mud Hens.

Yup. Been to a bunch of games. Everyone liked Detroit or Cleveland. I liked to be different

Sfeihc 04-01-2014 10:44 PM

This is the saddest first day in terms of performance of the CP Mock since mecca went awol and claimed he got some hot piece of tail. CP Mockers need to get your game tight! We've got mocking to do dammit!

Mother****erJones 04-01-2014 10:46 PM

Browns would go Manziel

It's Direckshun's fault

DaKCMan AP 04-02-2014 05:41 AM

While Sammy Watkins would be a fun pick, I really like the acquisition of Andrew Hawkins. Josh Gordon is already a stud. Brandon Weeden is gone. Jason Campbell is gone. All we have is Brian Hoyer coming off of a season-ending MCL tear.

The Cleveland Browns select Johnny Football, QB, Texas A&M

I've always liked the Hawk. Plenty of other WR's to grab later. Browns REALLY need to make this pick because he wouldn't be there at their next pick and wouldn't have made it past #23 for sure.

The Franchise 04-02-2014 07:55 AM

Raiders have to go Watkins here.

Direckshun 04-02-2014 08:15 AM

Do they? Why wouldn't they go Mack or Robinson?

BossChief 04-02-2014 08:22 AM

Here comes Watkins...

Sfeihc 04-02-2014 09:10 AM

Lookie here Noobs and vets in the CP Mock. If your pick is coming up and you won't be able to promptly post it when you're on-the-clock forward it to Pesty, D or even me. Please, include the appropriate number of options in order of preference so we can keep this thing moving.

As always remember to PM the next GM in line

Direckshun 04-02-2014 10:11 AM

Absolutely right. Play it smart. We need to get tons of picks in.

Sfeihc 04-02-2014 10:49 AM

So at this point I think it might be easier to sign up for ObamaCare than to get the CP Mock rolling. #justsayin'

Direckshun 04-02-2014 11:00 AM

HASH TAGS WILL NOT BECOME A THING ON CP.

I WILL BURN THIS MOTHER DOWN.

Sfeihc 04-02-2014 11:02 AM

Why are you anti-hashtags?

I mean you must feel pretty strongly about it going full caps on me.

Direckshun 04-02-2014 11:48 AM

#killhoover

The Franchise 04-02-2014 11:50 AM

If I had the time.....I'd track how long people take between their picks and average that shit out over the entire draft. Thank God I don't have that kind of time. I'm not worried though...people have different schedules and Hoover has only been on the clock for 6 of his 24 hours.

And I've got BossChief's upcoming pick.

Direckshun 04-02-2014 11:52 AM

That effectively means jsp is on deck.

What's his track record? He usually pretty punctual?
