Grow-your-own mushrooms?
Anyone ever used one of those grow-your-own mushrooms in a box kit things? Like this?
http://a.tgcdn.net/images/products/a...ng_kit_env.jpg Basically the box comes with the spores and the growing soil, you open the box, put it in a window sill, mist it a couple days, and have fresh mushrooms in a week, with most getting at least four full harvests from one box. I've been thinking about it, as finding anything other than white button or portobellos is damn near impossible here. |
I tried morels once, epic fail

Oh, those kind of mushrooms.
No. |
I grew my own weed in a college dorm closet once. I had to go to "responsibility training" for an afternoon with my roomate. No on the shrooms

No, but I have made moonshine and I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express two weeks ago.

What's the pen for? Autographing them?

So.... did you actually grow these from a box? |

I heard they were grown in a box, but not a cardboard box...a clear plastic tote. |

This is a timely thread, for me. I almost bought one of these kits a couple of days ago. I didn't, thinking I'd ask about it here.

Seriously if you want to grow a lot of shitakes, lion's mane, or whatever its really not hard. All you need is some mason jars, a pressure cooker, some wild bird seed, some vermiculite, some coco coir, and some patience...and of course spores. I dont know what those cardboard boxes cost but I doubt they'll yield much. |
