OVERLAND PARK, KS (KCTV) -
A man who committed suicide claims he buried $200,000 at an area arboretum, but Overland police say it's a hoax.

However, extra police apparently are at the Overland Park Arboretum to prevent people from coming with shovels and other utensils to dig.

Martin Manley committed suicide about 5 a.m. Thursday at the Overland Park Police Department headquarters. Before he killed himself, he posted details about him burying the coins at the arboretum.

The family tells the police that is a hoax, and that Manley actually gave all the coins away.

Chopper5 is headed to the scene, and we will livestream it. Refresh this page for updates.

It's a coverup. The family and police are now there digging, I bet.

Wow, so I think its safe to say he might have had a personality disorder (narcissistic perhaps?).

For those wondering whether to read it or not, it's basically a guy rationalizing his decision to commit suicide at 60. Sounds like he may have been developing dementia (contrary to his no health problems claim)

East side. Just had a new driveway addition put in and I've got some areas to fill.

What is the point of suicide at 60?

Just wait, the bus will be here soon...

The people digging are most likely from Wyandotte county. They treat Joco trash pickup day as a holiday.

I haven't seen anything remotely close to weepy diatribe. I am guessing you didn't actually read much.

The most shocking part of the whole thing to me is how rational and sane the entire thought process is. Not saying suicide is OK I'm just saying I have never seen this spin on it.

Bottom line he wanted to control his own death.

Talk about OCD.

He said he is tired of forgetting things and knows it will only get worse so he chose to "go out on top".

He didn't want to live through the typical end of life issues.

Not necessarily OCD. My dad has been saying the same things since he hit 50 (52 now). I expect him to do something similar to this guy. He's not a writer so he won't document it though.

saw it in theatre with my dad, a ww2/korea war veteran. it's worth a look, though dated. there are a few scenes that remind me of cp banter/comradery. nude blond too.
