Does this mean they'll somehow add a football program? I have no idea how they'd do that.

They can't even compete in the conference they are in. Why would the WAC even consider an invite to them.

This.

They're getting pounded in the Summit League.

Oh well, maybe it will help them recruit.

probably because the WAC is on the verge of death and needs teams. The summit league is about to die too.

For those of you who don't follow these things, the WAC is on life support. It's worse than the Summit League. (That is why one of their members, Denver, is actually leaving it to join the Summit next year)

There are like 2 existing members left signed on for next year. The WAC is a disgrace. It's amazing UMKC is going to be the first school to "move down" in conference re-alignment. That's how stupid that school's AD is.

I don't know man, the Summit has been really bad since Oral Roberts left. I'm kinda happy my Alma Mater can get a new start, though I for one think we probably shouldn't be in Division 1.

From Wikipedia: "Due to various members leaving the WAC, the conference will drop football as a sponsored sport after the 2012-13 season, therefore becoming a non-football conference."

Good news?

Does anyone know if that would open the spot for another conference to form or move up for FBS football?

You don't follow your alma mater too good then. Because Oral Roberts just left this year and the Summit League is having one of its best years.

Yes, but there aren't any rivalries, or even schools that anyone on a national level can name. Maybe it's on the way up, but it doesn't really seem like it. Just five years ago the Mid-Con had Valpo, ORU, schools that people had heard of. Now they have Nebraska Omaha.
