How many teams from the Big 12 do you think are going to be in the tourney, Buck?

CU is done!

And if anyone has a better idea on how I can organize the OP, I'll do it.

Get rid of all the shitty, irrelevant conferences.

According to ESPN that would be everyone except the Big East and Big 10

I dig the thread. Thanks Buck.

I'll chime in. Good thread. It's nice to see it all organized in one place I visit regularly.

Buck 03-06-2011 06:33 PM

Here is a cool site that keeps track of all the bracket projections on the internet.

I'll put it in the OP too.

http://bracketproject.50webs.com/matrix.htm

Buck 03-06-2011 07:03 PM

ESPN 2 Right now is Santa Clara vs St. Mary's

St. Mary's might be a Bubble Burster if they don't win the WCC tourney.

Same goes for Gonzaga tonight, but I'm not 100% sure with either of these teams.

mnchiefsguy 03-06-2011 07:09 PM

Wow, your link has Missouri State in as a 13 seed. Would be very cool if that were to hold up, but I am not holding my breath. Missouri, K-State both as a 7 is a little surprising, I figured K-State would be at least a six or a five after beating both KU and Texas.

This is a great thread Buck.

I know everyone on this board is anxiously awaiting the announcement of whether KU will be the overall #1 seed or not.

I'd say OSU pretty much wrapped that up today. But it'll be good for KU. Help motivate them. Keep them under the radar.

I just hope they draw a 16 seed from the MWC in the first round.

Somebody to abuse mercilessly.

Like SDSU, for instance.

Yeah, the overall #1 is apparently something to avoid.

Since tOSU and KU would have no conflict with one another on preferred site, being the overall #1 would be strictly for pride. (Ohio State would want the East, Kansas would want Southwest) Duke and Pitt would also both want East or Southeast before settling on Southwest.

If you get your preferred region, then a #1 is a #1, there's not much difference on the S-curve. Kansas needs to avoid being the last #1 (no one wants to go West), and they need to stay ahead of Texas. If Kansas wins the Big 12 tourney, they are in good shape. If they lose in the championship game to anyone but Texas, they might still be OK. If Kansas fails to reach the championship game, they might go west or fall off the top line.

Discuss Thrower 03-06-2011 08:03 PM

Kentucky is going to be toast early, I don't think Mizzou will repeat there relative success from last year, and the bandwagon I hopped onto in Missouri State is NIT bound. I really don't have a pressing reason to give a shit about NCAA basketball this month. Yay.

DMAC 03-06-2011 08:10 PM

No way MO state is NIT bound.

I'd like to see it too but no way Mo State is in the big dance, unless its a make up for past rejections.

They will defintely get an NIT invitation.

Hoping Florida gets in the Tampa regional..

KChiefs1 03-06-2011 10:53 PM

Big 12 Bubble Teams:
Colorado - out
Baylor - out
Nebraska - out

IMHO...One of these has to make a big show in the Big 12 Tournament to get selected.

All three are out unless they win the big 12 tourney. Nebraska may have been close if they had not lost to colorado recently, but now we are a 5-bid league unless someone goes on a fluke 4-game win streak.

Colorado is still in for Lunardi, but I expect losses in conference play for some teams which will take away at-larges.

Poor UMKC, another blowout loss in the 1st round of the Summit league tournament. Matt Brown should be fired tomorrow.

|Zach| 03-07-2011 12:13 AM

I think Missouri is a dreaded 8/9 seed. Gonna be some tough games for them. I would be shocked if the Bears got in. But damn they deserve a spot after all the horse shit that has happened with that program in regards to the tournament.

3 or 4. If they win the SEC tournament I think they'd be a 3 with an outside chance at a 2.

Buck 03-07-2011 03:03 PM

There aren't any bracket buster games today.

Gonzaga plays St Mary's for the WCC Championship, but regardless of who wins they are either both making it or only one of them. No huge blow to all other teams depending on who wins.

You forgot about VCU/Old Dominion.

If VCU wins, that will take a spot away from the bubble.

Buck 03-07-2011 05:51 PM

You think Old Dominion is going to get an at large bid?

I guess they could, but I don't see both George Mason and Old Dominion getting At Large bids. One or the other.

ODU is a 8 on that bracket matrix you posted, BTW.

GMU and ODU are better than shitty teams like Colorado and VT so I really don't see the problem.

Buck 03-07-2011 06:07 PM

I forgot about the extra 4 spots this year.

If it was at 64 I think George Mason or ODU would be out because I can account for 63 other teams and I doubt they'd get the last spot, but these last 4 will probably help them.

doubtfull. And I also doubt that they would have beaten Texas or won twice against KSU either. IMO Colorado is slightly better than those teams and played a much tougher schedule than the CAL teams. Half the conference finished with an overall losing record. Thats a lot of patsys on those teams schedules.

Old dominion lost to Missouri by 23 points. Colorado beat Missouri at home and lost to Missouri by 16 on the road. I really don't think GMU's resume is very good either. They, like Colorado have some bad losses, (NC State, Dayton) but they don't have anywhere near as good a marquee win as CU does. If Colorado plays KSU one more time in the Big XII tourney and wins again they are for sure in.

'Hamas' Jenkins 03-07-2011 07:33 PM

It would have been interesting had Missouri beaten KSU and Nebraska and gotten at least to the semis of the BXII tourney, and ended up as a 6 hosting and 11 seeded Missouri State.

ODU choking = starting to nail the coffin that is MSU's slim hopes for an at large bid. (If I'm not mistaken)

VCU/ODU what a great game

KC_Connection 03-07-2011 08:01 PM

I'm giving this game to Gonzaga and I'm going to say St Mary's will get an at large bid.

Buck 03-07-2011 10:24 PM

The 2 biggest games tomorrow are Butler vs Milwaukee for the Horizon title and Marquette vs Providence.

Butler could get an at large if they don't win and burst a bubble.

Marquette should win but if they don't they might be on the outside looking in as the 11th Big East team.

Marquette might need to even win 2 games in the Big East tourney, but 1 would probably do.

WilliamTheIrish 03-08-2011 08:37 AM

That Butler game is going to be a good one. I like that squad. Tough as hell.

chiefsfan987 03-08-2011 08:24 PM
