Thread of Hope....
...I know, but I hate this trade as much as everyone here, but I need SOMETHING to hold onto for hope.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-smith-report/ Chiefs mum on Alex Smith report It’s a given that the 49ers and Chiefs have a deal in place that will send quarterback Alex Smith to Kansas City once the league year starts on March 12 at 4:00 p.m. ET. Indeed, Jay Glazer of FOX wouldn’t be reporting it if it weren’t completely and entirely accurate. But the Chiefs are saying nothing. Through a spokesman, the team said that there will be “no comment” regarding the “rumors” that have emerged. It could be that the Chiefs are simply playing it cool in the event something unforeseen happens. After all, the trade can’t become official until the league year begins. Until then, in theory, the 49ers or the Chiefs could renege. We’ve asked the league office for confirmation as to the apparent reality that the agreement is non-binding until the league year opens in 13 days. If so, there’s a chance — albeit likely remote — that the 49ers or the Chiefs could back away from the bargain. |
Pat Kirwan @PatKirwanCBS
getting more negative responses to the Alex Smith trade from Chief fans than I expected. Chief fans feel like they 've done this before |
Where is the Bad Guy? Maybe he's heard something about it.

Its not too late...pull out! (there is a joke in there...) (<there too) |
Be a shame if some unfortunate accident should happen in the next 13 days.

Actually before each football season the Chiefs erase all hope for their fans with moves like this...
I havent had hope for this franchise in 25+ years, why start now? |
I would let SF keep that 2nd round pick just to ensure Alex Smith doesn't come to KC and that we draft Geno.
|
We should organize a protest at Arrowhead.

None. I don't think they can even comment on something they can't be official for another 2 weeks?

There is only one shred of hope to hold onto, and this is the scenario:
1. Chiefs trade for Smith for a SWAP of 2nd's (as reported by Clayton), so we would acquire Smith and drop back 30 slots, but still maintain a full set of picks. 2. Re-sign Brandon Albert (sigh or Jake Long, whatever) thus filling the void @ LT. 3. Draft Geno Smith #1 overall. He can sit behind Alex while learning Reid's system. Then Alex gets Kaepernicked in 2014. VERY, VERY wishful thinking....but if the Chiefs can pull THAT off....then maybe Reid and Dorsey are who we thought they were. |
