NBC's 1000 hours of Olympics coverage breaks down as follows:

Figure Skating 980 hours
Stories about the Figure Skaters 15 hours
Skiing 3 hours
Everything else 2 hours

exactly.....IM sure the Curling and Bobsledding coverage will be relagated to MSNBC from 12am to 2am Saturday Nights.

chiefqueen 12-20-2005 12:21 PM

Only if NBC gives us the late night/early morning LIVE coverage like they did with Athens.

I have a feeling it will only be their primetime taped coverage of 95% special interest stories of how Pablo raised himself, ate nothing but dirt as a child, only to become the World's greatest __________ and 5% sports action.

Donger 12-20-2005 12:22 PM

No. I'm shrouded in gloom right now.

Sully 12-20-2005 12:23 PM

I love curling... I'm not kidding, I am glued to the TV when it's on.
I love the bobsled/luge/skeleton stuff.
I like the skiing.
I can't wait for the hockey, though.

Im weird, but I found Curling kind of interesting to watch. Maybe not 3 straight hours of it, but at least the gold medal match uninterrupted or something.

My favorite, however, is the short track speed skating. That's insanity.

Ski Jumping's kind of cool from the 'big' hill, but typically all you get to see is the gold medal jump and the dudes on the medal stand.

Demonpenz 12-20-2005 12:23 PM

i will be watching the hockey of course i am a big fan of the slavokian's teams defence

........You have the first two backwards. I corrected it for you.

alpha_omega 12-20-2005 12:24 PM

I'm really looking forward to the sports...not the touchy-feely stories that NBC usually has in primetime.

siberian khatru 12-20-2005 12:25 PM

I hate to say it, but I find the Winter Olympics to be kind of boring. That really big ski jump is the only thing that will ever catch my interest, and I'm usually just hoping to see a flaming crash.

So you miss solo synchronized swimming, huh?

Fish 12-20-2005 01:30 PM

I read it as "Special Olympics"..... now I'm dissapointed........

ping2000 12-20-2005 01:31 PM

I want to see Gunther in goal for the US Hockey team wearing no pads or helmet.

Eleazar 12-20-2005 01:32 PM

I can't wait to see the curling, myself. I haven't been able to sleep for 2 months.

Nope......to answer the thread title.

I'd be more excited if there was snow at the site.

That was as of a week ago. Apparently the plan is to use snowcats, dumptrucks and even helicopters to haul snow in from other parts of the mountain.

I went to Utah to snowboard in mid-December and at that point they had gotten about 1/3 of the snow that they usually have by that point. It's been a bad snow year. I hear a lot of Colorado resorts still have pretty crappy conditions.

DaFace 01-25-2010 02:07 PM

I'm excited. I always enjoy the Olympics, whether winter or summer.

Just to clarify, this is ONE of the sites for the Games, so while they're having to haul snow in for that area, the majority of the sites are fine.

Curling will require copious amounts of adult beverages.

SDChiefs 01-25-2010 03:16 PM

Not really. Usually I get excited for the first day or two then lose intrest like a kid with ADHD. I just usually end up following the metal counts.

KC_Connection 01-25-2010 03:24 PM

Short track speed skating is like a roller derby, but on ice. It's crazy.

Do they go in circles?

JD10367 01-25-2010 05:03 PM

I'm in the minority that likes the Olympics. It gives us a chance to feel that national solidarity and pride that the rest of the world gets whenever their country plays soccer. There are a lot of diverse events, all interesting in their own ways. You get hot chicks in skimpy (summer) or skintight (winter) outfits. What's not to like? I don't go out of my way to TiVo stuff but, while it's being aired, I'll certainly keep the TV tuned to it.

Besides, sometimes, when the Russian chicks figure-skate, they glide towards the camera with one leg held high and you get a nice snatch shot. :D

Simply Red 01-25-2010 05:35 PM

ashamedly, I'm not a big fan of them. :(

Bearcat 01-25-2010 05:40 PM

Hockey.

mlyonsd 01-25-2010 05:50 PM

I love all Olympics and will watch all I can.

I especially like the Winter games because they have so much wierd stuff.

I also especially like them because of the Downhill. I must say I'm pretty much an accomplished skier myself, never mind it would take me 2 hours to get down the same run the downhillers do in 2 minutes.

Shit... I could get down that slope in 2 minutes. As long as you staple my appendages back on when I stop sliding at the bottom....

Yes, thats pretty much what you will see in prime time NBC.

But actually with all the stuff online and about 6 different NBC owned cable channels, alot of the obscure sports get covered now more than ever before.

I remember watching Judo, fencing and Equestrian during the last Summer Olympics.

chiefs1111 01-25-2010 08:12 PM

I'm ready for them, but I'm going to have to watch the Canadian channels if I want to watch anything live. Well, unless I drive up there which isn't too far away.

I'm just guessing but at least the bigger outdoor events will probably not be live and shown delayed in primetime which is fine if you can avoid sports sites that ruin it.

IM fairly confident most of the bigger events like figure skating, hockey and Skiing will be shown live.

NBC has alot of pull with the schedules because of the $$$ invested.

They were able to show all the Michael Phelps stuff live in China during primetime because they got the schedules moved to their liking.
