Pest's Pre-FA Mock
Assumptions:
1. The Chiefs let Dorsey walk and cut Cassel. The Chiefs land the following FAs: CB Sean Smith (Dolphins) OG Donald Thomas (Patriots) TE Delanie Walker (49ers) DE Chris Canty (Giants) 1. QB Geno Smith, West Virginia I have a feeling that they'll want to trade down but I'm not seeing a team that would trade up for any of these players. DE and CB aren't a need anymore because of FA and I think that Allen and Stephenson can battle it out for the RT spot. Geno Smith gets a year behind Alex Smith to soak up Reid's playbook. Alex Smith gets the full season to show if the Harbaugh years were a fluke or what he can actually do in the NFL. 3. WR Markus Wheaton, Oregon State 3. ILB Jon Bostic, Florida 4. S Bacarri Rambo, Georgia 5. DE Joe Kruger, Utah 6. OLB Chase Thomas, Stanford 7. RB Theo Riddick, Notre Dame |
QB: Smith, Smith, Stanzi
RB: Charles, Gray, Riddick FB: DiMarco WR: Bowe, Wheaton, Baldwin, McCluster, Wylie TE: Moeaki, Walker, Maneri LT: Albert, Waldron LG: Thomas, Allen C: Hudson, Patterson RG: Asamoah, Scott RT: Stephenson, Waldron DE: Canty, Bailey NT: Poe, Powe, Toribio DE: Jackson, Kruger OLB: Hali, Jones ILB: Bostic, Williams ILB: Johnson, Sturdivant OLB: Houston, Thomas CB: Flowers, Smith, Arenas, Brown, Menzie (CB/S) S: Berry, Abdullah, Rambo, Lewis |
Any concerns that Kruger might be undersized?
I like Chase Thomas more as an ILB myself, but depth is depth. |
I think Kruger has the frame to put on some more weight and be ok. NFL.com has him at 6'6" and 269 lbs....but says this.

Yeah, I'm good with this. Pestilence for GM!

I would be thrilled with this scenario. I am still curious to see what (if any) kickback we get from the 49'ers in lower rounds.
