What these moves say to me is that they're acknowledging their protection and blocking issues and plan to aggressively address them during the bye week.

I've been saying for weeks that it's hard for me to believe that Rishaw Johnson is worse and has less upside than Jeff Allen. Asamoah has been awful in pass pro, so the move for Watkins seems to be an acknowledgement in that regard.

While he's only been signed to the practice squad, Jones appears to be more of a blocking tight end than a receiving threat. After multiple failures in the Red Zone (especially from the one yard line against Houston), changes must be coming.

I thought maybe Opurum could possibly play that kind of role if activated but this kid has good size and looks like he could do some of the things Moeaki could have in the blocking game. I think Opurum like D. Harris is just not ready yet

except more of a smaller Dustin Keller type more of a reciever. We got Fasano who is an all around TE but not a great one. Reliable when healthy. There really isn't a blocking inline TE out there they like apparently. They've worked out a bunch the last month or so. Beard man i think can become an all round TE but is overmatched blocking. Needs to keep improving and get stronger this offseason. He can continue his role as well as fill Kelce's role as a slot or split out guy being a big target who can get open. The third spot needs to be a good blocker and hopefully decent enough to catch some passes too

I would be suprised. If anyone is going to replace the chiefs starting guards this yr, than it would likely be Schwartz.

I see these moves as a prep for 2014 when Asamoah and Schwartz are free agents. Chiefs will likely allow both of them to test FA, as well as the safties (Abdullah, Demps, Lewis).

Schwartz is crap. Asamoah is as good as gone.

If true, this severely bums me out. I've often wondered why Stephensen wasnt at the LG or even RG position, as he can't possibly be worse than Allen or Asamoah.

If Reid isn't playing his best players because he's more concerned with the "swing" guys, it'll really harsh my mellow.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid said the Chiefs elevated Watkins, a fifth-round draft pick out of South Carolina by the Rams in 2012, to the active roster because they were at risk of losing him to another team.

“Good offensive linemen are hard to find, so people are obviously keeping their eyes open on him,” Reid said. “We were able to make this move to be able to keep him on our football team.”
