How does this work about our FAs? Inquiring mind wants to know.

Below is a list of KC's FAs. If we chose not to sign some

1- Do we get a draft compensation for them?

2- If so is there a formula to figure our what we get?

3- How much do you think Bowe, Colquitt, Albert, and Dorsey will bring in compensation?

Kansas City Chiefs (KFFL.COM)

QB Brady Quinn UFA
RB Peyton Hillis UFA
WR Dwayne Bowe UFA
TE Steve Maneri RFA
TE Jake O'Connell UFA
TE Martin Rucker UFA
P Dustin Colquitt UFA
OT Branden Albert UFA
DL Glenn Dorsey UFA
DL Shaun Smith UFA
LB Brandon Siler UFA
CB Travis Daniels UFA
FS Abram Elam UFA

Keep these. Rucker mainly to be a TC body and see if it would work out, as the Joker TE.

Bowe, Albert, and Culquitt are the only 3 I'd resign.

The Franchise 01-11-2013 11:34 AM

Keep: Bowe, Colquitt, Albert and Siler.

Everyone else can go **** themselves.

mcaj22 01-11-2013 11:38 AM

you get comped if you dont sign FAs to replace the positions you let walk or to upgrade the team elsewhere

so if Bowe walks and we dont sign a Jennings, Welker or whoever (unless a guy gets cut like Stanford Routt last year, he is a fair game) and we draft a WR, we can still get a comp pick for Bowe next season

also I believe it goes by playing time

so I'm not totally sure if we even get a comp pick for Brandon Carr since Brady Quinn ended up playing a lot

Quote:

Compensatory picks cannot be traded, and the placement of the picks is determined by a proprietary formula based on the player's salary, playing time, and postseason honors with his new team, with salary being the primary factor. So, for example, a team that lost a linebacker who signed for $2.5 million per year in free agency might get a sixth-round compensatory pick, while a team that lost a wide receiver who signed for $5 million per year might receive a fourth-round pick. awarded at the ends of Rounds 3 through 7

Newly acquired Dallas Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr signed a five-year deal worth $50.1 million with the Cowboys on Wednesday.

Under the rules for compensatory draft selections, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks.

They do but they have to be RFA or URFAs that weren't cut. So, Winston, Boss, Routt won't count against us

I'll bet we end up with a 6th and a 7th. They'll assume that Hillis is almost the equivalent of Carr, and we'll get a 7th for giving up the 2 running backs.

I'd bet 3rd for Carr, and a 6th and 7th.
