KC AGREES TO TERMS WITH FOURTH-ROUND AND SIXTH-ROUND PICKS

Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Friday that the club has agreed to terms of a three-year contract with WR Craphonso Thorpe, the club’s fourth-round pick (116th overall) in the 2005 NFL Draft. DE Khari Long, the second of the team’s two sixth-round picks (199th overall), also agreed to a three-year contract. Kansas City has now agreed to terms with eight of its nine 2005 draft choices. As per Chiefs policy, no other terms of the agreement were made available.



Thorpe (6-0, 187) played in 48 games (21 starts) at Florida State, catching 123 passes for 2,153 yards (17.5 avg.) with 18 touchdowns. He added six carries for 13 yards (2.2 avg.) and 39 kickoff returns for 845 yards (21.7 avg.). He started a personal-best 11 contests his junior season, recording a career-high 51 receptions for 994 yards (19.5 avg.) with 11 touchdowns. The two-sport athlete also lettered twice in track, winning the 100-meter and 200-meter races to earn All-ACC honors as a junior.

The Tallahassee, Florida native competed in both football and track at Lincoln High School in Tallahassee. Thorpe was a second-team All-USA selection by USA Today as a senior when he caught 64 passes for 1,025 yards (16.0 avg.) with eight TDs.

Long (6-3, 257) was a four-year letterman at Baylor, appearing in 39 contests (22 starts) for the Bears. He recorded 145 tackles (89 solo), 19.5 tackles for loss (-63.0 yards), 9.0 sacks (-50.0 yards), 14 QB pressures, two forced fumbles and four passes defensed. He played in 11 games (10 starts) as a senior, registering a career-high 58 tackles (36 solo), 2.0 sacks (-7.0 yards), eight QB pressures, a forced fumble and one pass defensed.

The Wichita Falls, Texas native was a two-sport athlete in football and basketball at Rider High School in Wichita Falls, Texas. He posted 122 tackles and 7.0 sacks as a junior.
