Thread of Hope....
...I know, but I hate this trade as much as everyone here, but I need SOMETHING to hold onto for hope.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-smith-report/ Chiefs mum on Alex Smith report It’s a given that the 49ers and Chiefs have a deal in place that will send quarterback Alex Smith to Kansas City once the league year starts on March 12 at 4:00 p.m. ET. Indeed, Jay Glazer of FOX wouldn’t be reporting it if it weren’t completely and entirely accurate. But the Chiefs are saying nothing. Through a spokesman, the team said that there will be “no comment” regarding the “rumors” that have emerged. It could be that the Chiefs are simply playing it cool in the event something unforeseen happens. After all, the trade can’t become official until the league year begins. Until then, in theory, the 49ers or the Chiefs could renege. We’ve asked the league office for confirmation as to the apparent reality that the agreement is non-binding until the league year opens in 13 days. If so, there’s a chance — albeit likely remote — that the 49ers or the Chiefs could back away from the bargain. |
Pat Kirwan @PatKirwanCBS
getting more negative responses to the Alex Smith trade from Chief fans than I expected. Chief fans feel like they 've done this before |
Where is the Bad Guy? Maybe he's heard something about it.
|
Lets ****ing fly a banner so this FO knows!@
Its not too late...pull out! (there is a joke in there...) (<there too) |
Be a shame if some unfortunate accident should happen in the next 13 days.

Actually before each football season the Chiefs erase all hope for their fans with moves like this...
I havent had hope for this franchise in 25+ years, why start now? |
I would let SF keep that 2nd round pick just to ensure Alex Smith doesn't come to KC and that we draft Geno.
|
We should organize a protest at Arrowhead.

None. I don't think they can even comment on something they can't be official for another 2 weeks?
|
There is only one shred of hope to hold onto, and this is the scenario:
1. Chiefs trade for Smith for a SWAP of 2nd's (as reported by Clayton), so we would acquire Smith and drop back 30 slots, but still maintain a full set of picks. 2. Re-sign Brandon Albert (sigh or Jake Long, whatever) thus filling the void @ LT. 3. Draft Geno Smith #1 overall. He can sit behind Alex while learning Reid's system. Then Alex gets Kaepernicked in 2014. VERY, VERY wishful thinking....but if the Chiefs can pull THAT off....then maybe Reid and Dorsey are who we thought they were. |

The only good news about this trade is that the Chiefs will be featured for the next century on the NFL Network as one of the 10 worst trades in NFL history.
Bad news is that this generation of Chiefs fans will have to bear that mark of shame for the rest of our lives. |

reporter: "Are you guys realy this stupid"? Chiefs: "well uh, hrm, uh, oh God..." reporter: "Did you realy pay that much for that guy" (snickers). Chiefs: "Umm no comment." reporter: can't stop laughing long enough to ask another question. |
How in the hell is ChUNT still a multi-millionaire?

Don't do this to yourselves. Let the hate flow through you.

I pray to God you are right. I can live with the SF trade if Geno's name is called with the Chiefs first pick..... |
If Reid even WANTED Geno, he wouldn't have agreed to this deal. At all.
|
I'm a Chiefs fan.
There IS no hope. |

The passion from the fan base makes the Chiefs who they are. I understand the frustration. But let me ask a question. What is the biggest need for the Chiefs? IMO its QB. What's to say the Chiefs still don't draft a QB in the 1st rd? We all have suffered for a long time and we deserve something good to happen to this franchise. Keep the faith Chief fans....keep the faith.

If they liked Geno, they wouldn't have given up this years 2nd, and potentially next years second, for another QB. That is an epic amount for a possibly backup QB if they felt that way. Quote:
Proper reading comprehension should have done it for me. The tweet says the compensation is not yet decided. Meaning the whole "If he passes X number of yard with X number of TDs and plays in X number of games, then it becomes a 3rd round pick" thing. |

I'm with Detoxing. I'll climb off the ledge if its a swap of 2nds, and we DON'T give Alex Smith a new contract. I'm even ok with a conditional mid-rounder next year for that deal.
But the way this day's gone so far, I'm fully anticipating that the Royals are about to announce a 10-year extension with Francouer. |
