I wouldn't imagine that plants add to the taste.

Ace Gunner 11-24-2012 03:18 PM

proof that good pizza doesn't grow on plants.

munkey 11-24-2012 03:20 PM

Seriously can't believe how bad it is...and I thought dominoes sucked...WOW...dish out two million for free? Can I have my money back?

Well, Manning is a piece of shit and just bought the franchise out here. I didn't eat there before and certainly won't now.

KC kid 11-24-2012 03:26 PM

I think Papa Johns is the BEST

Ace Gunner 11-24-2012 03:26 PM

all you need to know about "quality pizza" is that while every other meal has tripled in price over the years, pizza is still a couple buck$ per slice.

KCUnited 11-24-2012 03:27 PM

I'm not a big fern of Papa Johns either.

Bwana 11-24-2012 03:27 PM

I've had damn good luck with Papa Johns. I would take that over pizza hut, or dominoes any day if I'm ordering "fast food pizza."

You are doing it wrong. You have to soak it in the garlic butter sauce.

007 11-24-2012 03:31 PM

Pizza Hut pan pizza is still the best of the quickie pizzas.

JoeyChuckles 11-24-2012 03:32 PM

In terms of fast food pizza (go away pizza snobs), the new Dominos pan pizza is fairly good, but not as good as Pizza Hut pan. Papa John's is third.

Have you had NY/NJ area pizza? It isn't priced low because of the lack of quality I will tell you that. Chain pizza is not even in the same stratosphere. 5 pizza places in my town alone, none are chains. Hell the 100 nearest pizza places probably 8 are chains. The pizza I had when I went to KC, STL, and Kalamazoo aren't even the same food as around here. My unlce from Kalamazoo eats pizza non-stop when he comes home because he can't handle how bad it is in the mid-west.

It seems like this thread comes up about twice a year around here (though usually more intelligibly). It's all personal preference. Papa Johns is my favorite followed by Pizza Hut and Dominoes, but it just depends on your tastes. Go figure.

That's a little too radical of a concept for this place.

Do you eat it frozen or heated? Frozen gives you a more crispy crust, but heated brings out the flavor of the meats more.

Kroger microwaveable pizzas that are a buck each. I've been living off them since I've been on unemployment.

DC.chief 11-24-2012 03:47 PM

The papa johns near me is awesome. Then it's diminos and the occasional 7-11 pizza when I walk there drunk. Then Pizza Hut. Never really cared for ph. Ill give them one thing though they are pretty creative with types of pizzas they come out with

You should save up for a pizza plant, water it, give it plenty of sun and then free pizza.

smittysbar 11-24-2012 03:48 PM

I personally like Papa Johns, Casey's Pizza is my favorite for the places around here, it or Paglia's

ArrowheadHawk 11-24-2012 03:48 PM

I prefer a thin crust meatlovers from Pizza Hut. Don't care at all for Papa Johns.

Casey's? Aren't those the ones you buy at gas stations? I have a policy to never mix dining with petroleum storage.

Papa John's thin crust is pretty good. Their regular crust is "meh."

Go to that one place in River Falls.

Stewie 11-24-2012 03:58 PM

Ask 10 people about the best pizza and you get 10 opinions. I don't remember ever eating Papa John's since there's not one close, but the Papa Murphy's Chicken Garlic pizza is awesome. It's a white sauce pizza and probably has a million calories, but damn it's good.

They just built a store near me and I get coupons in the mail. I haven't tried it yet, but several people here like it.

PunkinDrublic 11-24-2012 04:02 PM

Fortunately I live by a great local place that delivers. **** chains like Papa Johns.

Hootie 11-24-2012 04:04 PM

maybe the Papa John's you frequented isn't ran very well...

like I said, the one across the street from where I live gives me a $5 large 1 topping...with garlic butter and a pepperoncini...can't complain.

I like Pizza Hut best when it comes to Fast Food pizza...but Papa John's is 2nd.

The old pizza place I used to work at is unbelievable and probably the best deep dish pizza in America.

CLX 11-24-2012 04:06 PM

Godfathers has to be in the running for the worst, before the company had financial problems it was the best around. Sometimes we would drive 50 miles to have a Godfathers.

Papa Johns is pretty bad. Had one and haven't gone back.

Maybe but given the choice between a great local place delivers and a chain that may or may not be good, I'll choose local every time.

I called and complained..the sauce tasted like tomato paste...they asked if I wanted to talk to a manager but at this point I'm like "**** it"...I'll never go back again...not worth the time or fuel...

Yeah I work at a hotel and people always ask me for recommendations and I always tell them about our local pizza places because we have two really, really, really good pizza spots.

The bar I frequent on Sundays has terrible, terrible, terrible food and it is dead all the time...I bring 10 guys every Sunday (Sunday ticket) and we give them 90% of their Sunday business...

we were sick of eating their shit food so we asked the bartender if we could just order a pizza and he didn't give a shit...

so we ordered a ****ing massive, party size deep dish pizza from Papa Dels (papadels.com)...best pizza on the planet...sausage, pepperoni, bacon...the meat trio...two slices fill you up past the point of full...

$40 between 5 people? Much better than eating an $8 burger that taste like moose dick.

The bar is a great, great (hidden) bar too...it's too bad it is ran so horrendously.

I don't know man...

the Papa John's (and really they are all over the U of I, at the games, everything) I order from is good...I like the chewiness of their crust? I think there pepperonis definitely taste better than Pizza Hut's (there is something up with the taste of Pizza Hut pepperoni)...and at the Mobile next door a DiGiorno is $7.99 and like I said I get a large for $5...so the price is right and I swear I think it tastes good and I am a very picky eater.

Hootie 11-24-2012 04:15 PM

for instance, I don't eat Jacks, Tombstone, Tonys, anything...I'll eat a DiGiorno...those are good...but I'm a picky pizza eater and I like Papa Johns...used to hate Dominos, still think it is the worst out of the popular fast food pizza joints, but even they are pretty good now (or at least trying) with their new recipes.

007 11-24-2012 04:15 PM

depends on who's making it lol

the Casey's I used to have as a kid...one dude made the best Casey's pizza ever...the other workers put too much cheese (way too much) and hardly any sauce...

one rule of Casey's pizza...it is terrible the next day...warmed up or cold.

Me too...and I agree.

The DiGiorno supreme is money...but shit, sometimes you can get good deals at a grocery store but like I said...at the gas station next to my apt they are $8...a Papa John's (across the street) large is $5 1 topping...I'm taking the Papa John's every time.

Damn OP, I like Papa Johns actually. But I also have the dislike of food that a person lost in the desert for months without food has.

Bump 11-24-2012 04:21 PM

papa johns is disgusting and so is the other shitty big corps. I live in a part of Boston where all of the food is terrible. There is a street with 20+ take out places and they are all garbage. It's an hour drive to get a decent pizza around here.

Rain Man 11-24-2012 04:29 PM

Okay, this thread has convinced me. The next time I fill up my tank in the Midwest, I'm going to try a Casey's Pizza.

Shogun 11-24-2012 04:31 PM

Minskys is my go to. But if im feeling cheap and not wanting to spend $40 on two pizzas i'll do Papa johns. Their bbq chicken bacon pizza is incredible imo.

So I rank

Minskys
Pizza Shoppe
Papa Johns

Okay, so this is getting more complex. You can buy drunk-guy food while you're filling up at the gas station? That type of cross-marketing is not nice.

Frozen is horrible, can't even believe people would say that's better then papa johns. Frozen is horrible, has no taste, the sauce tastes weird, if you don't cook it properly it'll will be gross, if you overcook it, it will be burnt. I don't know, me myself I would rather dish out a 5er or 10 on a nice medium or large then buy some frozen pizza that tastes like garbage. Pizza Hut is pretty bad, I find Domino's to have the best delivery and prices.

In Canada, they changed the 5 dollar hot and readys to like 9 or 8 bucks. Went there a few weeks ago to pick up 2 pizza's and it came out to be ****ing 25 bucks plus crazy bread and dip.

Are their pizzas round, or do they make them in irregular four sided shapes?
