-   -   Mike Anderson: Will he set an NFL record on Sunday? (https://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=12700)

Mile High Mania 09-21-2000 12:47 PM

Just curious ... theirs a stir about whether or not Anderson will become the 1st rookie RB in NFL history to start his career with 3 straight 100+ yard games.

Do you guys think KC can keep him from achieving what none of the greatest NFL RBs has ever achieved? Especiall, since the game is in Denver?

I think Anderson sets the record.
Shanahan will do nothing to compromise their chances of winning the game, but if he knows he can win the game and still create situations where Mike can break the 100 yard mark - he'll do it.

I say Anderson will gain 113 yards on Sunday and set the record.

grammar ... "there's"

Where's spellchecker??

mlyonsd 09-21-2000 12:54 PM

I don't think he will. I say he gets 87 yards.

As long as the CHEIFS win, I could care less if he runs for 150 yards. The denver system
does seem to keep plugging in RB and they keep performing.

Mile High,

Good to see you have something good to say about the Broncos.

Yea, I think if Mike Anderson starts on Sunday, and plays the entire game, he will have over 100 yards. Not only does the Denver O-line look good, but his running was pretty impressive last week. He wasn't just running up hugh holes, he actually made alot of those yards himself.

Mile High Mania 09-21-2000 12:59 PM

I think he really has a great shot. Main goal is a Denver win, so I agree with your way of thinking. Screw the personal goals - just win the game.

I hope he can do both.

KC gave up 119 rushing yds to Indy, 121 to the Titans and 49 to the lowly Chargers. Denver's offense, right now, has been just as prolific as Indy and Tenn. So, I think it's looking good.

It's important that KC keeps Anderson under 100 yards, and gets a chance to smack Gus Ferrett around a bit http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/smile.gif It'll be even more difficult to win otherwise.

It is phenomenal what any RB can do in Denver......

MHM

George was kept under 100 yard in the Titans game. I think Anderson will get close but not reach the 100 yard mark, then next week you can tell us he is the first rookie to average 100 yards in his first three games.

while I think that Anderson is looking pretty good, He is no Eddy George or Edgerin James...

The Cheifs held George most of the day, and they'll put hobbles on Mike the Marine.

Besides, how much rushing will Denver do when down by 14 http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/smile.gif

He may get the record, but it will be at the expense of the passing game. I see that rain is in the forecast on gameday. That would certainly favor the Chief's straight-ahead running attack vs. Denver's soft interior.

HC_Chief 09-21-2000 03:20 PM

I don't care if he gets 200yds as long as KC wins! http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

bishop_74 09-21-2000 03:23 PM

I agree Iowanian, Shannahan would NEVER run the ball if he was down by a couple of touchdowns. I say he gets 3 runs totaling 23 yards... http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

G_Man 09-21-2000 03:26 PM

Honestly, no.

Cannibal 09-21-2000 03:27 PM

You think he's going to average 8 yards per carry?

TEX 09-21-2000 03:33 PM

It's hard to believe that Earl Campbell doesn't hold that record. It seemed like he ALWAYS got 100 yards his rookie year.
