well being #1 on the waiver wire, we should be on the lookout for surprise cuts

Sorter 07-23-2013 04:55 PM

Good thing we're deep at safety.

Don't think Commings will make or break this season but tough break

ThaVirus 07-23-2013 05:02 PM

Was this guy supposed to be good?

And where's the training camp thread?

Dante84 07-23-2013 05:04 PM

better than a torn labrum or whatever. I'll take a clean bone break over a tissue injury.

'Hamas' Jenkins 07-23-2013 05:10 PM

Just put him on the IR and hide him for a season.

Can't happen. As soon as he sets foot on the field for practice, he's ineligible. He could be placed on the IR-to return list, however.

RunKC 07-23-2013 05:28 PM

Good news is that it's 6 weeks until the first game, so that helps him being able to play this year at some point.

I'd say let him heal and start getting him reps in practice in week 5 or 6, then slowly bring him back in the 2nd half of the season.

I thought the PUP list was essentially IR-to-return. What's the difference between the two?

planetdoc 07-23-2013 05:33 PM

if its a fracture that doesnt require surgery, than typically he can return to play in 8-12wks [this time frame is higher than the typical 6-8wks for someone who plays a non-contact sport].

If its a fracture that require surgery (typically with hardware), than he can return to play 6-8 wks after all hardware is removed*. Hardware is typically removed 1yr after placement.

*some may allow contact without prior hardware removal, but its controversial.

He'll have to settle for sympathy hand jobs this season.
