digging and planting stuff is a major pain in the butt

bigger stuff is multiple person job

hire a company that has all the equipment and people ... save yourself a huge headache

Fifteen trees could cause climate change. Watch for the arrival of non-native species.

What color are the trees?

In the summer they are all green...

I got a verity of maples, some turn red, others yellow, one orange.

A couple blue spruce

a couple columnar english oaks.

It should be a nice mix.

Hope you like picking up branches and leaves.

Hire a pro, this will give the trees a better chance to live . It goes way beyond digging a hole. Those big ones especially. However, if your a handy guy and strong in the back, it's a great project to tackle. 15 trees is a bunch.

Sounds like you'll have a nice yard come next fall.

Maples and Oaks shouldn't be that bad.

Its not like I bought a bunch of birch trees.

Yeah I'm pretty stoked.

We have a big odd-shapped trapezoid back yard. So I have plenty of space to play with, probably close to 3/4 of a acre. My dogs are going to love it.

15 maples and oaks are going to drop a ton of vegetation every fall and spring too. I like trees, but I wish I had considered this 15 years ago. At least 3 or 4 weekends a year are spent dealing with the maintenance.

Once those get established, you'll be losing sheep all the time. That's why you don't change the ecosystem.

You got no BUSH? Just trees...

Bad move-you always need some bush.....:p

Iowanian 11-03-2013 08:38 PM

How big are they?

I plant quite a few trees...and will be planting a lot more next year.

I over-dig the hole and mix in some extra soil that is turned with some seasoned cattle lot manure. If your fertilizer is "too hot"....it will burn the trees and kill them. The other method I've used...and it works great on gardens....is to mix up some turd pudding....and pour some in the hole before planting the tree or a little around the top after completion of the planting.

if animals are a concern, get some wrap to put on the base about 2-3' up.
