Time again for a new phone
So I'm eligible to upgrade my cell phone again August 1st. I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S2 through Sprint and was ready to get the S4. Now I see that LG is set to release their Optimus G2 sometime in August.
http://www.engadget.com/2013/07/09/lg-optimus-g2-leak/ I've never considered LG, but I'm intrigued by what I've read. Has anyone else looked at this and is it worth waiting another month or so for the LG? Also, does anyone in the KC area have any experience with Sprint's LTE 4G? Is coverage still spotty? |

Anyone? Buehler? Buelhler?
|
Sprint sucks, Note 3 is gonna be a beast. I like my s4 but not a huge fan of touchwiz, prefer sense. I like LG TV's but their phones usually suck
|
I'm waiting to see what the Moto X is all about.
|
I really can't stand Sprint as a cellphone company. That being said, I usually go with what is free. This time it was the iPhone 4. I never planned on owning one because I don't like Apple products but it isn't bad, does what I need it to when I need it to and that's about all I can ask for.

I did read some article where they mentioned that the phone would rival the S4 and HTC One in the price department which would be a huge let down. The specs that have been released aren't near as high end as those phones. |
You don't need a removable battery if 8 hours of hard use only kills 15% of the battery.
Just saying. Not that I know. |
We just upgraded with T-mobile about 5 months ago.
I have the Galaxy Note II. Wife and daughter have Galaxy SIII. I absolutely love it and I'm pretty sure the girls wished they had gotten the Note also. Even if they won't admit it. My daughter was begging for the Iphone because that's what all her friends have, but after a few weeks she said she is glad I talked her into the Samsung. Of course what do I know, I was still using my old V3 Razr when we upgraded. |

I'd also love to see a battery that see's 8 hours of hard use and still has an 85% charge left, though. However, I've been told on CP that the majority of people buy a new phone every year, so... |
For what it's worth, I've had an iPhone 4s since launch day. Recently swapped it out at the store as a result of a sticky home button and didn't pay a dime.
|
Note II buddy. Won't have to buy another phone for 5 years.

I've had the Google Nexus S since winter of 2010.
It's ok I guess....of course that's really old in tech years. I was thinking about getting the Samsung Galaxy 4S, but god damn the thing is so ****ing big you almost can't put it in your pocket. |
It's time for my upgrade. I have Galaxy s3 now, it's ok. Been through iphone, never again. I had an EVO forever and loved it. Looking at HTC ONE or Galaxy s4. Not big on tech, so any input would be great.

I got my son an S4, he loves it. Much like the S3, just faster. I have the Note2. The LG G2 looks like a nice phone. |

I've had the Nexus 5 for about 4 months now. Love it. Pure Google without all the bloatware and the specs are about as good as anything out there right now. Great screen as well.
Best part: they're cheap! I bought mine off contract for $350 and don't have to deal with the hassle of bullshit contracts. |

I was most looking forward to the release of the LG G2 mini from all the rumored specs I was hearing. Rumors had it being in the league of the Sony mini's, but LG makes much smaller overall sized phones. Then they actual phone was unveiled... it's basically the same damn phone as the LG L90 with the G2 button layout. I really don't understand the purpose of taking your highend line, shrinking it, and making it a subpar midrange phone. |
Galaxy S5 or Note 3?
|
Couldn't be happier with my new iPhone. The coverage sucks balls thanks to sprint. I do miss verizon, just not the Pricetag that came with it.
|
FaceTime Audio works pretty well if you've got a wifi connection but crappy cell coverage and are calling another iPhone.
|
Shiiiiiiit. Since switching to Ting, my wife and I pay around $70 a month for our phones. No more upgrades. Ever. I guess I'm just not a tech guy. I've got the SIII and I don't see a need for a new phone at all. This little guy still does more than I even need it for. Thank God...I got so sick of buying new ****ing phones all the time!

I have a Note2. I thought 5.5" would be too big. It's not. Note3 is 5.7". |
Note 3 is the best phone I've ever owned. And I've had pretty much every phone you can think of. S5 looks cool you may want to wait.
|
I had the note 2, due to work I had to switch to the iPhone 5s. I feel like Marty mcfly; I'd be picking up the S5 in a few weeks if I had my druthers.
|
I'm leaning on the s5. Really don't want screen bigger that 4.7 though.
|
iPhones are for females.
And gay dudes. :) |

I have an LG G2 and I love it. Always been an HTC or Samsung user, but this G2 is amazing.

The G3 is rumored to have a 4k res screen and 5.5" display. |

Looks like I'll have to upgrade to the HTC One (2013 version), but then I saw what AT&T is asking for it on contract... ROFL 1 year old phone with its successor coming out 10 days from now and they are asking for day 1 release prices. Just for shits I looked at how much Verizon was asking... $49.99. I ****ing hate AT&T. |

Upgraded to the Note 3 yesterday.
Great phone. Really fast. |

You get a man purse with it? :) |

I did get an Otter box, though. |
Note3 in an Otterbox? How the hell do you carry it?

I just dont see it as that much of an upgrade but apparently AT&T prices phones based on how much internal memory they have and nothing else. It's got a faster processor, meh... the M7 is already beyond fast enough. It's got a bigger screen but they still have the dumbass HTC logo on the front and it has on screen keys now so that .3" increase goes right out the window. The camera is still dogshit. And its a massive and heavy phone for being 5" when you compare it to every other flagship. |
Wish the major carriers would pick up the Sony phones.
|
Have any of you switched to TMobile recently? The power button on my iphone broke, and I do not want to stick with Att.

Came back because the first experience with them was great and they were offering a plan that allowed me to get the Galaxy S4 at sign-up without paying $200-$300. Essentially it's $25/mo for the life of the contract but you can pay it off sooner and take the phone with you to another carrier if you want. |

I mean look at the difference. Whenever I play with a friend or family's iPhone I'm automatically annoyed at the tiny screen.I don't know why you would own one or pay more to own one if you had a choice of the Samsung products. Look at the difference Note 3 vs iphone5 http://i-cdn.phonearena.com/images/a...080234.JPG.jpg |

I wish more android manufacturers did what Sony does.
They took their flagship Z and Z1 and made compact versions (ZR and Z1C) that didn't nuke everything good about the phone and make it a piece of shit. I can only hope a Z2C makes it to the US because the Z2 actually supports US frequencies where as the others dont. I can't stand how big phones are getting these days. Seems like the only thing they can think of is slapping a new processor in the phone, increasing the size by .2" and calling it an upgrade. Just ****ing upgrade the phone with the latest technology. Improve the camera, improve the software, etc... At some point there has to be a limit to where you say enough is enough with these ****ing mega phones getting bigger every year. |

I have the Samsung Galaxy S4 in an Otterbox - great phone BUT...
It's like a ****in brick in my pants. Thought about changing to the mini S4 but the battery life on it sucks and it's not as fast. Need to think about getting another case...but nothing protects better than otterbox |

Iphones are great if you like tiny screens. I could never use one again. I browse on my phone way too much for that garbage.

Both my phone and my wife's phone are on their last legs. I'm thinking of getting a couple Nexus 5's. Anyone have experience with them?

In all seriousness, the browser on my iPhone is just fine if I'm on the road or otherwise in a pinch. I also have a tablet, so if I'm in a hotel room or at home, I can browse on that and it's superior in size to any phone, even the Samsung phablets.
And while you certainly CAN put one of those monstrosities in your pants pocket, they certainly don't work in an arm pocket while I'm mowing and listening to music, which is the #2 thing I do with my phone after making and receiving PHONE calls. I understand why people would like them if they're using them as a hybrid device. |

I'm kinda curious how this OnePlus One phone is going to turn out.
http://www.phonearena.com/news/OnePl...-front_id54351 Seems a little too good to be true from all the rumors. Flagship specs, Cyanogenmod out of the box, 5.5" screen that is smaller than the Z1 at Nexus prices? We'll see about that... |

T Mobile works well where I live and spend 95% of my time. They are not good in rural areas. The Google Play Store version of the N5 does not have wifi calling for T Mobile. This is going to be a big challenge for me when I go skiing next month as there is no service in the area. With the SG3 I just used wifi calling. |
Just find someone with a Sim cutter.
