I enjoy the camera work in this movie, that makes it seem like hes being followed around/you are watching him realistically rather than a shot for shot movie.

the relationship with his daughter, holy **** that is depressing.

I look at movies the same way I do music. If it can make me feel anything...even depression...it's simply an amazing piece of work. It takes a very talented person to create something that can change the way another person feels and should be appreciated whether you like the feeling or not.

Holy shit. I had no idea when I opened this thread I was going to find the very post you've ever made on CP.

Most of my dumbassery is all a ruse. I went through the darkest time of my life and posted every thought in my head here at the time, and that's what everyone believes I'm like all the time. I wasn't like that before or now, just let life and depression get the best of me...never again.

It ain't ever gonna happen. No interest in the subject matter, the character, anything. And I generally like Mickey Rourke.

But if I feel the need to watch a dark Mickey Rourke movie, I'll stick with Angel Heart.

I think Marisa Tomei shows some boobage?

 Well, yeah, I won't deny that. I did think you were a gigantic dumbass. But this post instantly changes my mind. Who could judge you for anything while you were going through some things a lot of folks never have to deal with? I guess my dumbass didn't have that kind of foresight before reading what you just wrote. I apologize, dude. Sincerely. No one could walk a mile in your shoes and pretend to know what everything felt like. God bless you, bro. I'm glad I had the opportunity to have this conversation today. Clearly, you're good people.

Yeah, I would be jaded as a mother****er too. I truly am glad you've come from the darkness and are better than ever. I wish you nothing but the best, dude.

CoMoChief 11-28-2013 10:43 AM

It's a kickass movie. Def one of my favorites of the last 10 yrs.

Demonpenz 11-28-2013 10:48 AM

I am pretty sure R.A.T.T. is in the movie. and Timmy Gunn is now studio directer of Virgin studios. I saw Tim last week and he said Leo is making a movie with some guy that you ****ers have never heard of. I am great and powerful. You all are white trash. /Dane

Its embarrassing more than anything, but I just look at it now as a learning experience. Thanks for the kind words.

Those experiences are the ones that make us who we are. Stronger, and wiser. I understand your feelings, but I hope you let it go. No sense in being embarrassed over something we learned from. Nobody's perfect. And with that, have a great Thanksgiving brother!

Read a story about Mickey Rourke whilst shatting a few years ago, and his preparation for the role in 'The Wrestler' was full-on 100% commitment. He gained about 30lbs of muscle for the role, and there were professional wrestlers who were saying he nailed it- the moves, the workouts, his ring presence, and if I recall he did all his own stunts.

Agreed- this is a great movie.

Pretty good acting all around, but definitely a movie you watch once and once only.

Totally disagree. I'll watch movies that move me over and over and over. My favorites tend to be the ones that make me physically angry or make me cry. The more the better.

Who would find it entertaining? And why would anybody make a movie about it? And what kind of asshole would recommend that movie to others?

Nasty. :shake:

Wow. :shake:

Wow. :shake:

The end of Glory moves me. Mickey Rourke getting stapled in the face in a ring in front of a bunch of trailer trash? Not so much.

I enjoyed the movie for the story and acting but I'd agree it's far from a happy story. Rourke was good. He usually is.

If I want a dark movie I still go for "Requiem for a Dream". Must have seen that close to seven times and still leaves me feeling squeamish.
