I wish I had a diverse taste in music, but pretty much everything posted in this thread...I hate. Sorry. It's me, not you.

Heh. Reaper is the reason I don't even try to do this on here. His list is so badass and well put together, that anything else pales in comparison.

Yep.

I never had a true grip on just how uncultured of a hump I really am until I started reading ChiefsPlanet.

That said, D has done a good job on his list.

Next thing I know is he'll be posting his beer and literary lists, and I'll sob as I drink another Bud Light while reading the latest Star Wars book.

The Black Keys are the band that I liked from 2012. At least that's when I first started hearing it on the radio. They rock man!

Unfortunately, they didn't release an album this year, so you fail. :D

That's because pretty much everything else you here on the radio sucks dick. When something decent comes along it sounds amazing. I have a hard time believing people love listening to shitty bands like "Fun" and "Group Love" that are played ad nauseum. I can't imagine the red tape bands have to go through to get the suits at clear channel to approve a bands music to get played.

I pretty much stick to discovering old obsure punk bands and supporting local bands that I like.

jay reatard and all his older bands (the reatards, lost sounds, the final solutions)(pretty much anything on the Goner record label out of Memphis)

Hardly revelatory, but can I assume you've checked out Cloud Nothings and Japandroids? Both released great albums this year.

2012 for me in music has been Call Me, Maybe and Somebody that I Use to Know. And some hits from 2011.

I like to go on YouTube and listen to music that I already know about, then check out the links to related videos.

japandroids - yes

cloud nothings - hadn't heard of them, will check out

If you're looking for new music, spotify is excellent. Subscribe to a couple of music blog apps (Rolling Stone, NME, Pitchfork, TheFader, etc..) and check out their recommended albums. Also use the "related artists" feature.

Reaper16 12-13-2012 10:18 AM

Good stuff, Direckshun. I especially like how only one of the albums you mentioned is going to be on my soon-to-be-posted top 30 list.
