Civ 5 announced.

Cancel all plans this fall.

Nice. I hope they incorporate some of the ideas from Civ Rev into this, like economic victories.

Are they going to fix combat units? I didn't appreciate my tanks getting moved down by archers and cavalry. Sid Meier needs to pull his head out of the ass with that. Otherwise, Civ games are great.

That's the only Civ game I have not played, I didn't think I would enjoy it being on a console. I may give it a whirl.

How does an economic victory work?

I don't think i've ever had that happen in Civ 4.

You have to have a certain amount of money (25,000 gold, I think) and then you have to build the World Bank. It's like building the U.N., only without requiring a vote. But, as you get closer to having that much money, you become a bigger target for other countries to invade.

I didn't play too much of Civ IV (never got to play on higher difficulties) but I got so tired of that in Civ III...

I have :( Two tank units versus a stack of 5 archers in a cultural city and the tanks lost. GMAFB.

Same thing with F-15's getting raped by prop planes. I mean, seriously, come the **** on. But like I said before, the game is too beautiful to be ruined by that, it's just a glaring imperfection. If I'm doing a better job at advancing then other nations, I need to be able to ****ing destroy them.

You guys ever start nuclear conflicts for fun?

Cultural cities can be tough. I don't mind it the occasional "wtf" moment, it seems to balance out nicely.

If the game is going well and I have nothing else to produce, i'll hoard ICBM's.

I've always wanted to see an MMORPG version of Civ.

Thig Lyfe 02-18-2010 01:15 PM

Oh shit!

Jenson71 02-18-2010 10:54 PM

Civ 4 was pretty fun as far as turn-based goes. I could see myself wasting plenty of hours on Civ 5.

By the way:

Universal Suffarage,
Free Speech,
Emancipation,
Free Market, and
Free Religion.
