Jim Carrey Takes Colonel Role In ‘Kick-Ass 2′
By MIKE FLEMING Tuesday September 4, 2012 @ 10:53am PDT

BREAKING: Jim Carrey has been set to play the role of The Colonel in the Jeff Wadlow-directed sequel Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall. Deadline broke this August 20 when Carrey had the offer to play a guy who helps galvanize the team of misfit super heroes assembled to fight evil. Wadlow just tweeted the news. The sequel brings back Chloe Moretz, Aaron Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Nicolas Cage. Carrey is a big fan of Matthew Vaughn and his original Kick-Ass film.

Thoroughly enjoyed the first one. I'll pony up for #2.

Luke Warm 09-04-2012 12:58 PM

Yea ill definitely be checking this movie also.

whoman69 09-04-2012 02:14 PM

I've heard from people that hated the first one, and I can't believe it. I loved it. Certainly much better than Scott Pilgrim.

Fish 09-04-2012 02:21 PM

Didn't like the first one. Hated Scott Pilgrim too.

Bump 09-04-2012 02:56 PM

this first one was KICK ASS!

looking forward to this

aturnis 09-04-2012 03:54 PM

First one was Billy Badass. I'll definitely see number 2.

Im guessing he'll be scarred all to hell. It never actually showed him die did it? I cant remember, its been over a year.

EDIT: Never mind, looked it up...apparently its just going to be a cameo...probably Hitgirl having a flashback or something.

BWillie 09-05-2012 01:33 AM

Always up for a Nick Cage movie, all 2,747 of them.

"Scott Pilgrim" was visually awesome though.

The idea of SP was cool, but the film itself was meh.
Kick Ass was...well...just another film.

Dayze 09-05-2012 08:11 AM

Hit Girl ( I t hink that was the name of that character) was awesome. So awesome.

Aries Walker 09-05-2012 08:27 AM

Hm. I worry that this will now become The Jim Carrey Show, rather than a Kick-Ass sequel.

I felt like they totally overdid that character. They tried way to hard to make her cool by cursing and acting tough. It came off as unbelievable and annoying.

Nicely done. I was worried Jim Carey would over act and ruin the movie. Looks like he's playing this one like a real actor rather than a human whoopy cushion.

Hopefully Jim Carey gets shot a couple of times, you know because he loves guns so much.

Jim Carrey took to his Twitter account - where he has in the past blamed vaccines for autism! - to deliver a message about Kick -Ass 2, and how he won't be supporting it with publicity.
He's going to get hit with some serious lawsuits for not publicizing and citing a negative opinion on the film.

Jim Carrey apologizes to gun owners for offensive comments

Jim Carrey is saying he's sorry.
The comedic actor sent out a series of tweets on Sunday apologizing for comments he's made in the past about gun owners.
"[Assault] rifle fans, I do not agree [with] u, nor do I fear u but I do love u and I'm sorry [that] in my outrage I called you names. That was wrong," he wrote. "[By the way] I don't need a crisis [manager], just a conscience. Calling [people] names is inappropriate but my position on assault weapons hasn't changed."
The apology comes just a few weeks after Carrey withdrew his support for his upcoming film “Kick-Ass 2,” explaining that he can’t stand behind the movie’s violent themes.
“I did Kickass [sic] a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence," he tweeted in June, referring to the shootings that killed 20 children and six adults at a Connecticut elementary school last December.

"My apologies… to others involve[d] with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.”
Carrey also addressed his opinion on guns back in March when he starred in a Funny or Die online video about gun control.
In the skit, the “Ace Ventura” star mocked Charlton Heston, the former “Planet of the Apes” actor who later became the president of the NRA. Heston died in 2008 at the age of 84.

I thought it was solid but at some parts the movie really deviates from the comic.

Aries Walker 08-16-2013 05:12 PM

27% on Rotten Tomatoes right now. Among the "Top Critics", that drops to 17%, but ask the audience and you get an 80. So, that's the kind of movie it is.

At least it isn't Paranoia, which is right now garnering a 2. Ouch.

No, it did poorly. It finished in fourth, behind We're the Millers and Elysium. It was a sequel that only did about 2/3 of the original. And it got savaged by the critics. I doubt we see a third, especially since the breakout character is growing up quickly and will certainly ask for more money, if she wants to film it at all.

And? It is following the first movie formula.

Cost 28mil to make

13mil US, almost 7mil UK, has not opened everywhere else. So only 8mil to go to break even after the first week.

But here is the kicker. Kickass makes all of its money on dvds. It will get close to 100mil or break it with world wide, again.

Which is great for small films..

No idea why people keep saying it flopped. It is almost like the critics want shit to flop so we can keep getting transformers.

It'll need to make about 56 million to break even, if you factor in promotional costs.

This movie was pretty reeruned. The script was awful, the plot outright sucked. It was lifeless and barely entertaining. Running strictly on the evaporating fumes of success the first movie had. Kick-Ass turned into a wimpy douche, and Hit Girl was conflicted and inconsistent and couldn't carry the role. Jim Carrey had about 3 minutes of total screen time.

Spoiler!

If you read the comic that's pretty much the longevity of character to the story, and in the comic mindy was conflicted untill the very end.

Aries Walker 09-03-2013 06:44 AM

It doesn't matter if the comic was any good. Their goal (ostensibly) was to make a good movie, not to make a faithful retelling of a comic book. If they couldn't change the story enough to make the movie work any better - which movies do all the time - they should've told a different story.

It had a couple of bright spots, but it really wasn't very good. The best superhero movie of the year so far (as far as I'm concerned) is still The Wolverine, which is hardly a ringing endorsement of the genre.

You say it like that's a bad thing. That was the best part...not having to watch that douche for very long. This movie fell flat, I didn't think it was horrible but it was nowhere near as good as the first. Pretty disappointed to say the least.

I wholeheartedly disagree, because the comic was good and so was the movie. They changed a bunch of shit to make it more tame for the general public too.

Jewish Rabbi 09-04-2013 01:30 AM
