It would almost be worth drafting this joeckal guy to see the nuclear meltdown that would occur here. Almost.

jspchief 12-27-2012 12:26 PM

Who the **** would our QB be? Alex Smith? And what would his contract look like compared to the cost of keeping Albert?

Just a couple of Mel Kiper's awesome thoughts....

Quote:

"I think Ryan Leaf is more mature than Drew Bledsoe, he's very much a grown up 21 year old."

"Wes Welker is not worth a second round pick. I don't care how much you like his work ethic ... he has done nothing to show a value that high"

Kiper had QBs Dan McGwire and Brett Favre rated evenly heading into the 1991 draft.

“JaMarcus Russell’s gonna immediately energize that Raider Nation, that fanbase, that football team- on the practice field, in that locker room- three years from now you could be looking at a guy that’s certainly one of the elite top five quarterbacks in this league. You’re talking about a 2-3 year period once he’s under center. Look out because skill level that he has is certainly John Elway like.”

"Ki-Jana (Carter) could be the next Bo Jackson"

"He (Peyton Manning) isn't John Elway, Dan Marino or Jim Kelly, but he's as good as it gets in college football," Kiper said of Manning. "A lot of these teams in the NFL are desperate for quarterbacks and he's the best out there, with Ryan Leaf a real close second."

Kiper rated TCU's LaDainian Tomlinson as tied for the 25th-best player in the 2001 draft, and only the third-best running back that year, behind Mississippi's Deuce McAllister and Wisconsin's Michael Bennett.

He thought Houston QB Andre Ware "was going to be a great NFL quarterback."

Kiper was high on Southern Cal WR Mike Williams; Detroit took him 10th overall in 2005, Williams made seven starts, had 44 catches and two TDs, and was out of the league after three seasons.

People need to realize that we aren't going to draft a QB #1 overall so it needs to stop now. I think Pioli is going to get Star or Manti Teo, both would be excellent picks. Then we can get a QB in the 4th or 5th rds to compete with Quinn and Cassel after we address our needs at OL and WR with the 2nd and 3rd rd picks.

At this point, I think the best option is to trade down, trade down, trade down and stockpile picks for the 2014 and 2015 drafts. Chiefs should make it a goal to have 6 picks in the first three rounds in each of the the next two drafts.

All true - but now go back and see who he thought the Chiefs should have dafted during Pioli's tenure. Had Pioli done as Kiper suggested, we'd be MUCH better off. Especially concerning a certain NT that plays for the Ravens...

This - all day long...

Btw around this time last year, Kiper had Landry Jones at #4 overall on his big board.

Robert Griffin III? 24th overall.

Dayze 12-27-2012 12:38 PM

we should wait to get the QB that is a sure thing.

Thank god you're not the GM of the team. That would be a horrible decision especially in a very weak class.

Dayze 12-27-2012 12:39 PM

but wouldn't that make the best QB even more vaulable?
