UPDATE
So my wife and I went to visit them at the hospital last night and also to bring them dinner. We followed on Facebook (as much as possible - info was very limited) but this is the first we have seen them since the accident. Even though we live close, we felt that it would be best to give them time before we visited because dealing with this and having tons of visitors can be too much. They were in fairly good spirits, I guess. About as good as can be expected when your child is in ICU.
Out of respect for the parents I won't go into much detail but I will say this. The trauma surgeon said that he did his residency in Dallas and he had never seen anyone this bad. At least not anyone that was in this bad of a condition and did not die, I guess.
I feel so terrible for that little girl and also for her parents having to deal with this. Yeah call me a wuss but I start to tear up just thinking of it. The parents have not left the hospital in the 9 days since this happened. They did say that she is doing just a little better every day. It's just a very slow process. There's even talk that she might be moved to a hospital in Lincoln that specializes in this kind of thing. Hopefully, that goes well and they help her to a quick recovery. She's a fighter and is staying strong through it all.
We're still praying that she recovers and is able to lead a normal life. Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes.
