Shooting at Arrowhead- Chiefs player commits suicide

edit: Sources say the player is Jovan Belcher. Police have yet to confirm.

An unnamed Kansas City Chiefs player has committed suicide at the team facility and authorities are on the scene, the police confirmed to ESPN on Saturday morning.

Local reports say police are operating with the belief the player fatally shot his girlfriend at a house before driving to Arrowhead Stadium and killing himself at around 8 a.m local time. The Associated Press reported the player's age to be 25.

"We can confirm that there was an incident at Arrowhead earlier this morning," the Chiefs said in a statement. "We are cooperating with authorities in their investigation."

There were no other injuries at the team facility, police said.

The Chiefs (1-10) were preparing to host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

The NFL has told the Panthers to travel as planned to Kansas City on Saturday, the Charlotte Observer has reported, citing interim general manager Brandon Beane.

Arrowhead Stadium on lock down after shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. —
Arrowhead Stadium is placed on lock down after a shooting at the stadium early Saturday, police said.

Investigators said a woman was shot in the 5400 block of Crysler about 8 a.m. Saturday.

She was listed in critical condition.

Police said another shooting at Arrowhead Stadium shortly afterward was related.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.

I've tried streaming two different KC news channels, and nothing.

Sorry to be the callas ass here but that's not true. I and we should have no sympathy for a murderer that commits suicide. Especially committing suicide in front of others that these innocent people now have to live with that with the memory of seeing someone commit suicide. I assure you that its not a sight that you can unsee. The GF and her family deserve out thought and prayers.

Well, the small fact that it apparently happened AT ARROWHEAD, DURING THE SEASON, THE DAY BEFORE A GAME, INVOLVING A CHIEFS PLAYER...

there is a slight bit of relevance. Not caring at all about the season in regards to the team's record but the mental state of the team and franchise. This season has been an epic tragedy especially if this situation involves a player. But that it happened at Arrowhead at all...
