Jamaal Charles now up to 6.4 YPC
 

He brought his average up from 6.1 to 6.4 with today's performance, which is at the moment the highest average in NFL history for a season with more than 120 carries (as far as I can tell).

He has 203 carries for 1,303 yards (wow!), averaging 6.41 ypc.

Jim Brown's best season in 1963, which was the single-season rushing record for a decade, involved 291 carries for 1,863 yards, averaging 6.40 ypc. (Recall that this was a 14-game season.)

Beattie Feathers averaged more than 8 yards per carry as a rookie in 1934, but there's some debate about how many yards he actually had, and he had fewer than 120 carries.

So...three cheers for Jamaal Charles!

They put up a graphic today that said that Charles has the highest career ypc ever for a RB with a minimum of 400 carries.

An amazing stat to be sure. Glad we have locked him up in a long term deal.

Amazing. I wish the debate would stop. I think if he got more carries he would eventually wear down or break down. The Chiefs utilize him perfectly.

The fact that he signed on for the long term is great. The big danger (in my mind) was that he would understandably have enough ego to want to be the sole feature back somewhere where he could push for 2,000 yards. Apparently he's more of a team player than that.

Charles ran for positive yards let's get Jones in for a couple of rushes.
