Seems like Ellis has been bitching about his contract for the past few seasons.

The key to rebuilding a terrible defense? OLD ASS LINEBACKING CORPS

Looking at his numbers, it appears he's had some injuries in two of the last three seasons, and his 2007 season was something of a abberation. Age and injuries could be an issue, so signing him may or may not be as black and white as it appears to you initially. |

All you have to do is watch the 2008 version of Hard Knocks to find the answer. The Cowboys love Spencer...he's the new thing. Jones says he's the next Ware. Ellis is on the tail end of his career, and he makes a lot of money. This isn't rocket science.
I still think Ellis could be effective, but only for a team that needs a plug in at his position, and are mostly set everywhere else. KC, obviously, doesn't fit that bill. Pass. |

I wouldn't mind Ellis for a short term deal. We have the cap money and it's not like we have young talent he would be blocking.
2-year deal would work |
I'd consider him as a free agent, if the Cowboys choose to release him, but I wouldn't give up a draft pick. I think our LBers will surprise the heck out of some this year.

Well, we have the cap space, so if he is cut, why not?
34 is the new 32 in the NFL any how, so he's got another 2 or 3 years..... |
