How much are smokes where you live?

They just eclipsed $8 a pack out here in the great state of WA. Cartons are over $70 after tax. How much are they where you live?

Simply Red 05-12-2010 11:04 PM

four bux.

pr_capone 05-12-2010 11:06 PM

bout $5.30

ClevelandBronco 05-12-2010 11:08 PM

At one time I'd have been able to tell you, but I'm pleased to say that I have no idea. I'll bet I couldn't guess within a dollar.

teedubya 05-12-2010 11:10 PM

$60 an 1/8. Oh, wait. nm

Major brands? $5-ish a pack at convenience stores or outlets. They're upwards of seven bucks, though, at Walmart.

I can get Pall Mall for less than four, so there's that.

Buck 05-12-2010 11:12 PM

About $5.20 for a pack of Camel Lights or $5.60 for Marlboro Lights.

Have been meaning to ask this. Does quitting smoking help with weight loss?

Haven't smoked in 4 days and I'm craving. Might as well quit I guess.

Priest31kc 05-12-2010 11:17 PM

I get the cheaper brands for about 3.50 or so, Marlboro has a special on their new flavor brands for about the same price.

Nope. Quite often it's the opposite.

Do it. You'll be able to exercise more easily. That'll help with the weight loss.

Seriously? No. Quite the opposite. Just about guaranteed to gain 10-15 lbs after quitting. You may not realize it, but cigarettes are quite the appetite suppressant.

Yeah, it usually makes you gain weight. But like Cleveland said, it'll be easier to workout and run if you quit. Im running 3 miles, 5 days a week, and Im still smoking, I know it would be alot easier though and I'd probably be able to run more if I quit.

teedubya 05-12-2010 11:23 PM

I quit cigarettes after they reached $2 a pack. TWO DOLLARS A PACK?!! That was ridiculous. So, i stopped.

I quit smoking cigs almost 2 years ago and gained over 15 pounds since then. Shit, make that 20.

Some stuff tastes much better a couple weeks after you quit, or at least it seems that way.
