Anyone else here massive fans of the best band in country music?

I am not a "massive" fan but I do enjoy some of their music.

Just need Luv to chime in now to confirm these guys are done.

How many CMA awards these guys have?

something about the fiddle in certain songs is annoying to me....

i cant say what it is...other than its completely over done in most country with fiddles

but most of the country that I love, has no fiddle.........

None. They are a Texas band not that manufactured Nashville Country.

Not their best but it’s still great.

I can’t think of a song on any of their albums I ever skip. That’s pretty rare for me.

Yes, my wife and I have a cabin down close to tahlequah and we go see them at Medicine Stone every year. Best band in Country right now!

Well I know he is really poular right now, but I have been listening to this gu ya LONG time, before he was popular..

listen to how he uses an electric, steel string guitar to do the 'fiddle' melody parts..

to me they are much more subtle and do not overpower the acoustic chord-playing / percussive elements of the song:

It's in line with all the rest. ****ing excellent. It took me a couple listens to warm up to a few of the songs, but looking back it did on their other albums too.

Turnpike Troubadours are pretty good there is hope for Country music as much as pop country is trying to kill it.

Luke Bryant music makes me want to puke.

A Tornado Warning is probably my favorite song from the new album.

Heard them once. Not really a fan. But then again I don't care for country usually.

I've been talking about them here for years. Used to see them in a very small venu and drink beer with them after.

We see them a couple of times per year.

I named my livestock guard dog Troubadour because he barks all nite long. Uses his barking as a deterrent to the coyotes. When I get a female LGD I want to name her Turnpike, because all the other dogs will want to ride on her.

I've seen them twice in the last 3 years and Sturgill twice in the last 18 months. Good stuff.

Never heard of them before this thread. I listed to a half dozen or so of their songs on youtube. They are pretty meh. Not horrible but not very good either. I am not a huge country fan either. I never cared for the "tear in your beer" country either.

If you dont like country music or this group why listen to a half dozen. I can usually tell in the first 30 seconds if im gonna like then move on.

Generally Son Volt isnt upbeat enough for these guys.

Giving them a chance. I dont know which songs are their best or worst. You cant judge any group by the first 30 seconds.

You can if as you say you dont like country music. You dont generally stick with something long you dont like.
I dont like rap or hip hop so its off in a flash once it starts.

Winnipeg and Red Rocks. Missoula sold out before I had a chance to get tickets last year or two years ago...cant remember. Bobcats beat the Grz again.:)

Turnpike has played the Red Ants Pants music festival this year and 2015.

I've listened to this album almost daily since it's been out. It just keeps getting better.

A Tornado Warning is probably my favorite on the album, followed by Pay No Rent. The Tornado Warning song paints a neat picture. These guys are turning into one of my favorite music artists.

Me too. I even listen to it when I work out. There isn't a bad one on there. But the one that sticks in my head the most often is Unrung. Even if it is about an old guy perving on a young gal LOL

I just got notice that Turnpike will be with Jason Boland and Chris Knight at the Washington County Missouri fair on Aug 3.

That would be one hell of a show.

Kearney Nebraska on Feb 17 with Wade Bowen and another guy I've not seen.

Cedar Rapids IA on Feb 14th and I saw a date in South Dakota.

If you haven't seen them, go do it.

They were on Austin City Limits last night with Chris Stapelton. Both were good. Im not sure Mrs Shakes is aware of them, but we tend to like the same music. May have to get tickets to the Nightfall show.

I really like Oklahoma Stars but I can see how it might be average to some.

That is one of my favorites as well. The intro is incredible. They used in their hype video for the album.

More recent show cancellations and a recent "inebriated" performance by Evan at a benefit concert.

Just announced more show cancellations today and it appears Evan may finally go to rehab and get the help he clearly needs.

I don't particularly care for country, but that song was awesome. I'm gonna check them out and, if available, add them to my library on Amazon music.

Not entirely sure if this site is legitimate or not but it does have Turnpike's first, out of print, album available for download.

I am probably going to purchase it. A couple of those songs are on YouTube, but not all of them. Angola is a jam.

What songs are your favorite?

I REALLY dig 'Winding Stair Mountain Blues' thanks to those that posted and then quoted it. I also checked out '7&7' thanks to it also being mentioned earlier and then 'Unrung' was good too. I've yet to get a chance to really listen to anything else. I had a bunch to do around the yard today and opted to delay errands until tomorrow (my back is ****ED from falling through a ceiling at work).

I love that fiddle. A punk band I listened to when I was younger had a punk-folk sound and I liked the combo. I also love the sound of violins or cello in hardcore or metal.
