Stanford Routt Satisfaction Poll?

He was going to be the Chiefs' biggest liability in the secondary.
Through 3 games, he's probably been their best DB.

Bump 09-23-2012 03:15 PM

he done did good

the Talking Can 09-23-2012 03:16 PM

he got his ass torched for almost 3 quarters, like all our cbs

then magically we blanketed everyone

petegz28 09-23-2012 03:16 PM

He had a good game today and made the big play that we needed

Micjones 09-23-2012 03:16 PM

I adopted him this year since I got cheated out of DJ (whom I adopted last year prior to his first Pro Bowl season).

tk13 09-23-2012 03:19 PM

Notice how the CB's don't matter if you pressure the QB, like they did in the 2nd half. WHAT AN AMAZING IDEA!

qabbaan 09-23-2012 03:20 PM

He is a poor replacement for Carr and a poor value for the money he makes. He isn't good. The only reason he looks decent on occasion is because flowers has been so poor thus far

ModSocks 09-23-2012 03:20 PM

Through the last two games....i've been wrong about Stanford Routt

Int kept us in the game.

GoShox 09-23-2012 03:23 PM

I loved Brandon Carr as a player and still wish he was here.

But Routt has filled in nicely. That interception was huge and was a nice play.

Yep. The int was Brees not Routt, but the important thing is he's not a liability.

ThaVirus 09-23-2012 03:27 PM

I never thought he was a problem. Pretty much every time I've seen him "beat" this season it was due to a soft, zone scheme with no pressure on the QB OR just a great pass/route.

Dude's is not a problem.

Routt was in great position ... better than we've had all year and he made the catch.

If anything we lulled Brees into expecting NO coverage and then nailed him for it.

Mr. Laz 09-23-2012 03:36 PM

Routt is ok

I just wish our defense didn't look so lost sometimes.

O.city 09-23-2012 03:39 PM

Jimmy graham had 4 catches for 14 yards today. Hope the defense discovered themselves in the second half. Berry even looks better

Wasnt the question. we know that. Since Carr wasnt going to resign...see quickly signing with Dallas. What games has Routt personally lost? Or has spending half what Carr cost lost us a game?

You just don't know football dude, Routt should be our backup backup.

Hammock Parties 09-23-2012 11:09 PM

He reminds me of Eric Warfield.

Imon Yourside 09-23-2012 11:12 PM

I stated we wouldn't lose much if anything by replacing Carr with Routt and man was I worried that was a horrible decision. I think Routt is good and as long as he cuts down on the PI's we're good.

BossChief 09-23-2012 11:13 PM

What are the PFF position rankings for Routt and Carr?

CoMoChief 09-23-2012 11:23 PM

The issue in the secondary so far isn't Routt....it's the mis-use of Berry and the raping Javier Arenas is getting on a weekly basis.

Either way it was ****ing stupid to let Carr go to Dallas and sign Routt as his replacement. It never should have come to that IMO.

But Carr always was a Cowboys fan so who knows what we could have done (if anything) to make him stay. I know if I was a hot commodity in the FA market, I'd take less money so I could play for the Chiefs in my own hometown if it came to that decision. But that's just me....

DaneMcCloud 09-23-2012 11:28 PM

I won't make a judgement until after the season is over.
This is a new team and new scheme for Routt, and I expect a few growing pains.
Considering, he's playing well imo.

suds79 09-24-2012 08:34 AM

Routt is in a tough position for me.

He could play fairly well and I'll always be a little disappointed with him because he flat out isn't as good as Carr was.

I know that's not his fault but it is what it is.

DJ's left nut 09-24-2012 08:56 AM

Routt's a solid corner.

He's about 90% of Carr signed to a reasonable deal. The problem is that Carr's also on a very nice deal for the first 3 seasons, it would've just required a heavier cash outlay from Clark to make it happen.

Routt's going to take some undeserved heat this year because everyone would prefer Carr (and rightly so). But in the end the Routt signing, in a vacuum, is a decent one.

The announcer also said that Routt had the WR blanketed. In fact, I think I recall them saying that the decision was even worse than the throw.

Routt couldn't have been in a better spot than he was there.

He's not a perfect player by any means. He isn't Revis, he isn't Carr, he isn't Flowers. He's an above average cover corner that has the size to deal with some of the bigger WRs in the league and that athletic skills to make plays on balls like that. He's a nice #2 cornerback.

The Warfield comparisons are actually pretty fair. Chiefs fans blast him, but the worst thing Warfield ever did was replace Dale Carter (who Chiefs fans also blasted for no good reason despite him being one of the top 10 CBs in football). Warfield was a long, athletic corner who would take risks that got him burned on occasion. For the most part he did his job and was a solid CB. The problem was that he was asked to be a #1 here and was never up for the task.

Routt, on the other hand, is only asked to be what he's capable of being - a sound second CB. He'll be just fine there.

Carr played like a top 15 CB. Some of you need to stop acting like the guy was Revis out there. Of course Routt is a slight downgrade but so far, Carr wouldn't have given the Chiefs more than what Routt has given us.

The defender is not supposed to be in front of the WR, they are supposed to be trailing on the back hip. Routt was.

The ball was underthrown by a couple of steps which made it easier but Routt was in perfect position regardless.

It was a combination of a poor throw and good play by the DB, like most INT.

Yup. Being in the correct position allows you to make INTs on poorly thrown balls...who'da thunk it?

I can't give you that, but the Boy's pass defense has dramatically improved. When I check NFL.com yesterday they had the #1 pass defense, only allowing 150 ypg.

Also, its intersting to note that they worked Carr in at FS at points in yesterdays game when TB went 3+ WRs.

Heh, you watch. Our D will win this game today. Quinn will have 200 (very safe) yards and one TD. Charles will run for 100 and score one.

I'm rooting for failure so this will happen. The Defense will score one on a fumble recovery.

I don't think Charles will bust one on this defense. TB is very fast front seven and they are good at shutting down the run.

If the Chiefs win today, it will be on the arm of the QB.

When I make this comparison, I make it using only the #2 CB position play on this team. To me, that's all that is valid. I don't think it's reasonable to compare what Carr is doing for Dallas with what Routt is doing for the Chiefs.
