New "Real" Apple Video iPod...and PDA!?

Want to see the new video iPod from Apple that also serves as a PDA?

Okay, so far it's just a rumor, but here's what's been said so far:

1. The video iPod that Apple released at the end of last year supposedly wasn't the "real" video iPod. The real one is supposedly widescreen with the screen taking up the whole face of the iPod. The click-wheel is either going to be on the back of the iPod, or, it will be a virtual click-wheel on a touch screen...a touch screen similar to that of a PDA. That's been the rumor anyway.

2. Apple sent out an invitation to the media two days ago to come see their "fun, new products" on February 28th at Apple's campus. The only image on the invitation was a calendar icon (iCal) which is seems to hint at some sort of calendar/PDA functionality. Here's the invitation:

I guess we'll see on Tuesday. I like the idea of the iPod also acting as a PDA. If it really is an iPod/PDA...I'm definitely ordering one ASAP.

Color me skeptical.

The handheld PC and PDA market has never really panned out the way anyone thought it would. iPod's success is in large part due to not being a PDA. It's a simple device with one function and it has a simple interface.

While it is true none of the alternatives will carry they uber hyped iPod label, I just don't see Apple getting another massive win here.

Hell, this thing has been out over a year and I'm not sure if the new video ipod will have anything over it:

Not sure if you all have seen this or not, but it shows how this was fabricated. Very cool video:
